Chereads / Blood Bound to Elias / Chapter 10 - Left alone

Chapter 10 - Left alone

Back at the Stone family's residence, blood was splattered on the walls and every object in sight in the kitchen. There was so much blood everywhere that it looked more like a huge blood bag exploded.

It was such a horrific scene you'd see only in slaughter movies, but there were no bodies except one that lay unconscious in a pool of blood. Whether she was dead or alive would've been debatable, if not for the sudden twitch of her fingers.

There was much movement of the woman's eyeballs behind her eyelids, but her eyes never opened.

"Amaira."

"Amaira."

There was this voice in her head, she didn't know who it belonged to, but she could feel the evil emanating from the person's voice alone. She was afraid, more afraid than she's ever been in her entire life.

"I need to wake up!" were Amaira's words as she shot up from her laying position. She gasped for air as she coughed up blood that didn't belong to her. With one hand on her aching chest, she used the other hand to wipe away the unknown moisture she felt on her face.

Where the hell am I? she tried to say, but no words came from her mouth, only more blood, but this time, it was her own.

Rubbing away at her eyes, Amaira forced her feet to hold her weight but held on to the slippery counter for balance. When her vision cleared, she screamed in fright, but no sound came out.

'What's happening? What's going on?'

Amaira considered that she was dreaming because how could such a bloody and horrific scene be real? She clenched her eyes shut and pinched herself countless times, hoping to wake herself from the nightmare.

Her warm tears made lines on her face as they washed away the blood. 'Why aren't I waking up?' Amaira thought as she silently sobbed. 'Is this my punishment? Am I being punished for the wrongs I've done?'

Amaira leaned her head on the bloody wall and slid down it as the tears came down harder. She hugged her knees and her shoulders shook as her sobs got heavier. 'Why am I the only one being punished? What about the wrongs the world has done me?'

Amaira saw it unfair that she was the only one left in such an eternal nightmare. And what was that voice continuously whispering her name in her head? She covered her ears and in a raspy voice, she managed to say in-between her sobs, "What do you want? Please leave me alone."

'Please, someone save me!' she cried out in her head.

With her body trembling, Amaira held her feet to her chest tighter as she rocked back and forth. Her eyes by now were dry, she had no more tears left to cry, but she could at least now think straight.

'I was in this same kitchen drinking while babysitting Kenneth,' Amaira recalled. 'There was this strange aroma that came out of nowhere then Kenneth started to choke.'

Amaira didn't think of it at first but now she was thinking that maybe it was the strange aroma that caused him to choke. She looked at her bloody right hand, focusing on her index finger as she went on to recall, 'I put my finger in his mouth and he bit me.'

Amaira couldn't understand how he bit her without having any teeth, but she acknowledged that Kenneth was definitely a vampire baby.

She laughed dryly and said in her raspy voice, "So this is what happens to people who put their finger in Kenneth's mouth."

"Well," Amaira started as she got up. "If it's my fate to be alone for eternity in this nightmare, I should just accept it and move on with my non-existent life."

She stripped herself completely of her blood-stained clothes and walked out of the kitchen stark naked. Amaira hummed as she looked around, "I wonder if this nightmare has hot water, I need a very long soak."

Amaira reached into the hallway that adjoined the living room and the kitchen when she heard a voice say, "Excuse me, ma'am."

Her body froze, not only because she didn't expect other people to be in her nightmare, but because the voice was familiar to her. A chill ran up her spine as cold bumps lined her skin when she remembered where she heard the voice.

It was his voice in her head...calling out to her.

Amaira completely disregarded the fact that she was naked and turned around to face the person talking to her. She didn't know what it was, but it smiled before saying, "Do you know where the bedrooms are around here? I need to get some clothes."

The thing before her, speaking to her like normal, didn't look human though it had the basic characteristics of one.

It looked more like just red, tattooed skin thrown onto a skeleton; his limbs were all incredibly skinny and very long, only a few strands of jet black hair ornamented his otherwise bare head and his eyes were deep and hollow.

Despite her horror, Amaira couldn't take her eyes off his. 'Kenneth's eyes did that too,' was her thought as she watched the creature before her irises change color at each second.

'Is this the form baby Kenneth takes on in the nightmares of his victims? Or is this the creature that will haunt me for eternity?'

The creature suddenly laughed and said, "I assure you, I'm neither of those things."

Amaira's eyes widened as she thought, 'Is it reading my mind?'

"I am reading your mind," the creature told her. "And please stop referring to me as it, I'm obviously of the male species." He held the long and skinny thing that lay dead between his legs in his hands, "My male appendage may not look very impressive now, but I assure you that it's most magnificent."

"Where are my manners?" He said before appearing closer to her in the flash of a second. "I am-" he started, but Amaira fainted from the horror of seeing how much more hideous he was up close.

"Elias," he finished as he smiled down at her in his arms.
