"You are— Are you the one responsible for the missing children?"
"No." Alpha John shook his head. "As immoral as I am, I do not hurt kids."
Jude narrowed. "Then the experiments— "
"Research." Alpha John interrupted him. "We call it research."
"They are experiments."
"No, they are not. They are just research… which will benefit the supernatural world."
"And how exactly would that benefit the supernaturals? Wouldn't that only make it more chaotic? Wouldn't it be harder to avoid the attention of humans?"
Alpha John smiled.
"Aren't you tired of hiding… Mr. Caro?"
"Hiding?" Jude frowned. He already knew where this is going.
"Because I am." Alpha John said. "And so were everyone else around me. Even your father was tired of hiding from everyone. We are… the superior race. We could kill them in a blink of an eye. Why do we have to fear them? We are supposed to rule them."
Why indeed? Jude had asked himself once.
