Ava's heart thundered against her chest just as the car came to a screeching halt, it's bumper just a few inches away from her knees.
She blinked and took a step back, her phone was already on the road. Then she blinked and looked at the man who grumpily walk out of the car.
"Are you hurt?" he asked, his steps careful as he approached her.
Out of nowhere, the smell of dark chocolates assaulted her senses. She blinked in confusion. The last thing she remembered was… talking to that old man. She couldn't remember agreeing to anything that he said.
Without saying a word, she pinched her arm, trying to determine if she was still in a dream. Or perhaps… she was walking down memory lane?
