Olivia's eyes widened and she raised her hands to cover up her mouth but it was already too late.
"What was that? Who is there?" Though the knights that had been lying leisurely, they were members of one of the best forces that was known for their unparalleled strength and skills.
If it were not for looking down on Olivia, there was no way that they would not have found her easily.
But now that Ophelia had spoken, there was no way that he would not be able to hear the sound of whispering that was so close to him.
Both of the knights who were laying on the grass leisurely, sat up as they looked around vigilantly. Could it be that the princess really has come here!
They both exchanged glances with the same question in their mind as they stood up to check their surroundings.
"Ohhh! Slow down! I can not handle it anymore.. Mmmmmm!"
"Damn! You are so tight!`` Both of the knights stopped in their actions with a look of horror in their face that soon changed with disgust.
"Hey, who is there? What are you doing behind the bushes huh? This is a public area, go and rent a room in an inn. Leave!" they both shouted while looking away as if they were afraid that they would see something they should not!
"Who.. who is there?" they heard a soft sound, though it sounded manly it is too meek.
"Ha! To think you are not even a grown up man! You know you can be sent to prison for your actions." shouted another knight.
"We.. we apologize, we can not go out. Our clothes are.. They are.. We will leave once you are gone. We promise." the knight sighed as he knew what the boy was trying to say.
"This is the fault of over excitement. You should have known that you are in a public area and you will need your clothes later. Why did you tore them or did you.. Cheh! Filthy man!" he shouted as he took out the cloth covering his horse and threw it towards the couple who had no shame.
"That… Thank you! Then we will be leaving!" Olivia had already taken care of everything from clothes to heels that made them look like they were princesses.
Right now she was dressed as a commoner man while Ophelia was dressed as a maid. Once their face was covered with the cloth, she was sure no one would recognize them.
"Tch! Look how they are hiding their faces now." muttered the knight while others just sneered as he closed his eyes and laid on the ground again.
"Just let them go! I am feeling nauseous already thinking about them." under the gaze of the knights, sisters ran away from there towards the dark woods with their hearts holding in their hands.
"We have already covered a long distance. We can stop running now." Ophelia nodded as she took a few shallow breaths while her chest was heaving up and down in a rhythmic motion.
Her face had already turned red while her body was feeling exhausted.
Olivia scanned the surroundings with sharp eyes while her sister tried to catch her breath.
"Phew, that was a close call!" Olivia nodded as she knew they were not in a condition to fight. As killing one would only bring many more and she was still alone.
"But we are not free yet! There are two more nights waiting for us in the dark woods and there was no way they would be as leisure as them.'' It was already great luck that both knights did not check on them.
"We have to start walking now. Look around, if we find any edible food, we will eat it and then continue. Stay close to shrubs in case we need to hide." Olivia checked the small bundle she had made in her dress and continued.
"How far is it?" asked Ophelia as it had been hours since they had been walking. It felt like the path was unending. She was not even sure if they were going on the right path or just walking in circles due to the darkness and all the trees looked the same.
"We can not stop. We do not know where they are and how much time it would take to cross the woods, so we better keep moving." with a dreadful look on her face, Ophelia nodded as she continued to drag her tired body.
How much time had passed when Olivia finally stopped in her tracks and pointed at the trees.
"Wait! Look, there are some berries. We can have them and pack a few for later." her eyes sparkled as she hugged her sister tightly as she nodded her head.
It has been ages since they were walking. So, sitting freely and enjoying even those wild berries felt blissful now.
But as Ophelia ate a berry that her sister had brought to her after much effort, the scene of her mother asking her to eat with manners flashed past her eyes where her father chided her mother for being lenient on them.
"Mother, I miss you!" she whispered softly when Olivia was packing more in a bundle and her hands halted.
It was for a second before she started packing again as if she did not feel a thing.
"We have to hurry, there must be a tribe nearby since I can see the smoke coming from that side." she pointed at a distance as she asked her sister to stand up and start walking again.
"What if it would be a trap or what if they would not welcome us?" worried by the fact that the knights were still around, Ophelia did not want to go to the native villagers. What if they would tell about them to the knights later or what if it was a group of knights from the start.
"I know there is risk, but we can not survive in the woods alone too. We will only end up being the food of the beasts!"
