Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

"Is that a threat?" Asked Annabelle. In her eyes, Amelia shouldn't talk this boldly when there was hardly anything she could do in the castle because her father hated her.

Amelia smiled retreating back from Annabelle. "Of course not. It was a mere eye-opener for you that princesses are not all pitiful and powerless as you think. Congratulations on your baby. Goodbye," she turned to walk away from the table.

As her back was turned to Annabelle, her smile faltered revealing her true feelings. That baby would be the bane of her existence when it is born. She prayed it would not be a prince. Though they wouldn't share the same mother, she could try being nice to a sister from Annabelle. "What a terrible start to the morning," she muttered as she left the dining room followed by Cyrus and Gina.

"I was not expecting for them to announce a baby," Gina slowly spoke, hiding the news that wasn't announced to the rest of the castle as yet. "I thought he was just going to scold you like normal."

"Are we really going to the temple to pray?" Cyrus asked as he remembered the words Amelia told Annabelle a moment ago. He also did not believe she was going to pray for the well-being of the unborn child. "You shouldn't wish anything bad on an innocent baby."

Amelia spun around to face Cyrus. "You too? I would never wish harm upon a child. I just hope that it is a girl and not a boy or my time here will be limited. And yes, we are going to the temple. I did say I would pray for the health of her baby. Ah, my stomach is talking to me. How unladylike," she sobbed, holding onto her aching stomach.

"You should have stayed a bit more and tolerated her presence so that you could have eaten. I will go to the kitchen and get your breakfast while you are supposedly praying in the temple. Cyrus, please watch over her and make sure that she doesn't get into any trouble while I am away," Gina told the silent man who wouldn't listen to her anyway. She had a feeling he enjoyed seeing Amelia getting herself into trouble.

"Ignore her words, Cyrus. She is the one who brought us down here to this awful breakfast." Amelia then looked at the northern man who was outside of her bedroom all night long. She was certain that he didn't eat anything since the last time she offered him food. Even if he had gone to the kitchen, they wouldn't want to feed anyone from the north even though he was her guard. "Bring something for Cyrus to eat too," she informed Gina before picking up her pace.

"Of course," Gina departed from the duo and headed towards the kitchen.

Cyrus kept his head down still trying to understand why Amelia was so nice to someone like him who was from the north. Their people were at war with each other for many years and she was the princess. She was meant to hate a northerner but from the moment they had met, she was kind to him. She saved his life when she didn't have to.

Cyrus remembered Amelia telling him out of the guards fit for being her personal guard she trusted him more than the others who belonged to her kingdom. Her exact words were, "I can trust that you would never obey my father's orders to point your sword at me one day or run back and tell him all of my secrets."

"What are you back there sulking over Cyrus?"

Cyrus smiled slightly as Amelia hadn't turned around to know he was lost in thought. "Do you have eyes at the back of your head? Is that a secret of the Blackwell's?"

"I wish. It would make life much more interesting but alas, it is ever boring. I hope the priest is not in the temple. I cannot take him trying to tell me about what path in life I should follow as if I don't have a million people telling me already. Some priest he is when I know he's fooling around with a woman after vowing to give up lust," Amelia muttered.

Cyrus coughed in his hand to refrain from laughing at the princess's words. Each new day she strayed further away from what he had expected her to be. Poised, a bit stuck up with a hatred for the people from the north but obedient to her the king. Not sarcastic, funny, and kind to someone whose people kill her people upon meeting.

"I am serious. I don't know how the other people in the church don't know about his night activities. Just because he's a priest doesn't mean he's a saint. Everyone has their dirty little secrets."

"What is your secret princess?" Cyrus asked.

"I sometimes dream about strangling my father," she hid her smirk from Cyrus.

"That's no secret to anyone who has seen the two of you interact. I am certain he must have the same dreams of you strangling him which is why he keeps a distance whenever you are near. It's amusing how the people outside of this castle have no idea how the relationship between you and your father is. What are you going to do about the baby when you wish to become queen? A prince will get in your way."

Amelia sighed, tired of Annabelle's baby already. She would never hurt an innocent baby who was here all because of the adults. However, the throne was meant to belong to her. She was the only kin of the current king and it was only right that she become queen but the men here would never allow her to be.

Apparently, wielding a penis was the best thing in the world.

"No one is going to stop me from becoming queen. Not my father, his wrench, or some baby. For now, I will go pray that it is a princess. If it is a prince, I can only watch him grow until he becomes of age. And when he does, I will kill him," said Amelia.
