Chapter 39 - Glutton

Shrugging my shoulders, I picked up the nylon from the floor and trudged the two steps to the wall, before letting my body droop gently, sliding against the wall to the floor-the nylon was placed gently on my lap.

Well, I was hungry already, and definitely wasn't going to overlook this food. The period pain I felt around my waist line, also made my stomach ache, and my appetite huge.

I looked into the black polyethene bag and sighed. 'What could go wrong?' I thought, putting my hand into the bag, and taking up the bottle of water first.

Opening the lid of the can, I casted a furtive glance toward the entrance of the store room(hoping that whoever had dropped this here wouldn't come back for it as that might cause some sort of chaos I wasn't ready for).

After taking a swig of water from the bottle, I inhaled in deeply, feeling strength return into me. I took another swig, then another swig, before keeping the bottle by my side. Then I faced the main food or snack in the nylon.

I moaned in deep relish as my taste buds appreciated the wholesomeness of the speacial bread which had fish and meat chippings within it.

"This is good." I muttered continuously, taking large bites off the snack until it was totally consumed.

"Hmmph!" I soughed, taking another swig of water from the can. I felt rejuvenated. More alive.

'Now, i can get back to work.' I thought, about to get up from the ground, when an agitated someone stomped into the store room.

For a moment, i thought it was Rose, and drew back, my knees clogging against each other. But taking note of the slight difference in height, I adjusted myself properly and got up the floor, acting nonchalantly like I wasn't aware of her glares which darted between me and the polyethene bag. I was thoroughly aware and it gave me the jeeps. I had just consumed her food. I unconsciously winced, watching in trepidation, as she picked up the now empty polythene and stared into it. Her lips turned up in anger and disgust, her face clouded in a scary scowl. I was wrong, I knew it. This might have been her morning meal.i thought, feeling bad. But it wasn't really my fault. She shouldn't have left her food here. And more, she shouldn't be in that stupid clique. I was sure that if she hadn't followed them, then, this wouldn't have happened.

"A smart mouth, and a glutton...eh" the girl sneered, and I kept quiet, knowing that no matter the excuses I would give, I was still in the wrong. I shouldn't have eaten the meal. I should have known that it would belong to someone. Food doesn't just fall from the sky or appear out of nothing. No witches were allowed here, even if I try to bring that in.

"I'm sorry. I hadn't known it was yours." I apologized meekly, hoping that she wouldn't go berserk and start to act crazily.

"You didn't know it was mine? What were you thinking when you saw it? Huh? That someone perhaps had dropped it for you? Someone, perhaps the pack doctor that's already seeing and touching your behind? You complain about Karen, but there's not much difference between you two!" The girl shouted, and I took a step backward seeing the fury in her eyes, reminding myself that the girl in front of me was a real werewolf compared to a fake me. She could decide to fight with the way she was looking right now. As the saying went, a hungry man is an angry man.

So, I kept quiet, watching her rant, keeping mute even though she had indirectly tagged me a slut. That was not important. My life was.

"But that's not the point. The point here is that you had taken something that didn't belong to you. So, apart from being a slut, you are also a thief. A thief and glutton. A shameless one at that." The girl continued in a lower but still anger-packed voice, and I blinked back a shade of fury. It wasn't necessary now. I thought. I was in the wrong.

But it was as if my silence only triggered her the more, for in the next minute, shd now gnashed her teeth and smashed her balled up fist against the wall. The sound caused me to shudder uncontrollably, subtly. She didn't notice this, anger blinding her eyes.

"Didn't your parents train you well? Or perhaps, you had gotten this behavior from your sluttty mother? Huh?" She started sardonically, and I, out of impulse and anger, dealt a heavy slap on her cheek, forgetting my earlier reminders.

"Don't you dare bring my parents into this case because of some godforsaken bread and water. If bread and water is your problem, then I can make provisions for that to you...for a complete week." I stated, letting my indignation show finally. Who the hell did she think she was? I thought, folding my arms across my chest, glaring at her, not in the bit moved by the sarcastic laugh that burst out of her mouth.

"I thought you were resistant to insults." She taunted, smirking, after coming down from her high laughter. I scoffed, not finding it necessary to egg her on.

But she continued nevertheless.

"So, your parents are your weak point then. This would have been fun, but for the fact that the Alpha would be coming to take you. Although, I will wait till you come back. Because you will surely do. You don't look like you will last long. Either that, or you will be sold away. Whichever one is better for you, than coming back here, because I will make your life a living hell if you do, not minding your wolf." She stated, raising her hand to massage slowly, her cheek where I had just slapped, her eyes stuck on mine. Dark cold eyes.

I shivered.

"Are you threatening me?" I questioned, still putting on the brave facade, wondering which was more evil. Karen or the girl in front of me?
