Chapter 13 - Holding Back

They passed by the two guards watching the door and, to their surprise, they blocked their way.

"I would like to apologize, but the young master told us to not let you out until he came back." one of them having a hunky build said in a polite way. The other one nodded his head, too.

Kiel stepped forward. "I would also like to apologize, but my lady needed to go. Do you even know what happened here? The air was full of disgusting pheromones." he said calmly but sternly.

"We want to apologize, but we can't let the two of you go. Though we can accompany you to another room"

Someone entered the scene, clapping his hands. The two men bowed their heads and made a way for him.

"Well, well. I wasn't expecting that you'll going to reject my gift, Devyn," Luca said with a grin on his cheeks. "I gave them enough drugs. Are they still not enough?"

The young lady smirked. "If you're going to give me a gift, at least make sure that they will exceed my assistant." She stepped forward, meeting Luca's eyes. "What kind of bullshit are you trying to do here, Luca?"

"Woah~," Luca backed away. "Chill there, why so sharp? You don't know how much it cost me to surprise you."

He was about to tap the lady on the shoulder when his head got slammed into the closest wall to them.

"Heh?~" Devyn gave him chills, pulling his other arm behind with a twist. She leaned closer to his ears and whispered. "I don't care even if it costs you an arm, though"

Luca grunted, feeling the hard wall pressed on his face. However, this guy still put up his cocky attitude and chuckled. "What a dominance you have there. It's quite a turn on, you know?"

The two guards approached them. "We don't want to resort to violence, so please let our young master go."

Devyn stepped back, while Kiel stood by her side. He faced Luca with his serious expression. "Young master of the Fenrir Clan, this is not the right time to play some jokes. My lady came here to enjoy the party, so let's not choose violence."

"How bold of you to talk to me that way." Luca glared at Kiel. "Are you ordering me around now, Mr Arnoux?" he chuckled cunningly. "Who told—"

"If you don't want me to call my brother, then shut the fuck up, Luca," Devyn's eyes glint in madness, making him completely stunned.

"I-I didn't even do anything." Luca said, nearly trembling.

Devyn was not in the mood to talk anymore since she's already feeling this pain in her head. She totally came here to enjoy and yet ended up being like a bait into a river full of trash alphas.

"How dare you talk to my assistant that way? Are you forgetting where your place is?" She grabbed Luca on the collar and sharply said. "If you don't want to lose that tongue of yours, then better choose your words."

She pushed the guy into his guards, who immediately caught him and walked away, followed by Kiel.

IN THE PARKING LOT

She tucked her seatbelt with a frown on her face. It stayed there for a minute even before they reached the parking lot.

Kiel, who was also worried, tried to talk to her. "President, do you want me to take action about what they did?" he asked, putting the keys on and starting the engine.

"It doesn't matter." Devyn opened her window. "Give me my cigarette."

Kiel then put a cigarette between her lips and gave her a light. The young lady puffed a smoke and sighed, with her twitching eyebrows. "Those fuckers." She cursed out.

Noticing that she's still angry, Kiel started driving. He didn't dare to utter a word since he can sense the raging aura around the lady. His eyes remained on the road.

After a couple of minutes of silence, Devyn spoke.

"You should have let him downgraded you like that." all of her frustrations can be felt in those words.

Kiel knew what she was talking about. It was the way Luca talked to him earlier in that kind of tone. However, he has no time to give a shit about him. He knew how this society for the rich works.

"I apologize if I bother you, but I don't have time for that." He humbly replied. "Please don't do things for my own good. I'm not weak."

Devyn felt the disappointment in his words. It's not that she's trying to protect him or to make him look weak. She just couldn't take it when someone was downgrading Kiel without even knowing his real story.

She leaned more on the open window and puffed a smoke of two, then she said. "What a jerk you are."

"I will take that as a compliment," then his lips curled into a simple smile. He knew Devyn very well, after all.

He turned the car and asked. "Is there anything you want before going straight home, President?" he asked, checking Devyn by the side of his eyes.

Devyn flicked the bud of her cigarette and closed the window. She sighed and leaned her back on the seat, giving herself enough time to think for a while.

"Just get me a bottle of water. I'm feeling thirsty." She mumbled.

Kiel headed to the nearest convenience store they passed by on the way. He parked the car for a while and told the young lady to wait for him.

The bells hanging above the door clang and the cashier smiled at him. "Welcome! Good evening."

The guy took a bottle of water and put it on the counter. He took out his card and gave it to the female.

"Should I put it in the bag, sir?"

"No, it's fine."

When he was about to grab his card back, his vision started to blur and he felt his palm grabbing the edge of the counter. The cashier got worried, so she asked him. "Sir, are you okay? Do you need help?"

Kiel waved his hand. "It's fine." he took his medicine from his pockets. "Do you have anything similar to this medicine that I can take with an empty stomach?"

"We have, sir! But the effect is less sufficient. Do you still want to buy one?" She assured, worried.

"Give me two tablets." Kiel rubbed his temples to relax himself. He took a lot of Devyn's pheromones earlier, and this is the longest time he can hold back. Taking double of his rut medicine in a place like that is no use.

The effect of the drug Luca used on Devyn reflected on him, too. He needed to take Devyn home before anything ran out of his control.
