Chapter 8 - Energy Hunger 2 (Zeryon)

Zeryon stood while clenched his fists when he saw Gina running away from him.  Then he turned his body towards the headmaster's room. He found that the elite men started to step in again.

"Wait, you all have to stop the mess you're making!" he shouted.

Zeryon was about to burst through the door, but Madrox quickly restrained him and said, "You'd better not meddle in their business or something worse will happen to you."

"Is that a threat?" Zeryon looked at Madrox intently. He wanted to confirm what his friend had just said.

"Look, If you and the other demons want to stay on the earth's surface. Then everything must remain hidden, right? You know that tomorrow everything will be back to normal," Madrox said, then he released his grip on Zeryon's shoulder.

The middle-aged man in the room took a step back and turned around to see Zeryon. His eyes turned red, and he stared intently and mysteriously.

"And remember... if you are try to act like a late hero, you will be perish. You don't have much time left. You must work as hard as the other demons. Suck up even more energy!" the middle-aged man said.

The man gave a small nod to the two big bodyguards. They immediately recognized it as an order to close the door.

Zeryon's right hand punched the wall. The words of the middle-aged man enraged him. His strength appeared to be greater, as he could read deep into someone's mind.

Madrox tapped Zeryon's shoulder twice, then he walked away.

Zeryon lifted his head and scooped up his face. Then he looked around. He found Heva standing at the end of the corridor looking panicked, her eyes almost welling with tears, but saying nothing. While Vargas immediately approached Zeryon and Heva followed him.

"Are you alright?" Vargas asked in a low tone.

Zeryon nodded slowly. "See, I couldn't do anything about it."

"At least you  tried," Vargas responded.

"Vasgas is correct. At the very least, you are not simply silent because silence implies support for them," Heva added and sighed heavily.

Zeryon agreed with his two friends' statements. Then he remembered Gina again.

"By the way, I think that young woman was angry with me. I feel bad about yelling at her now," Zeryon said to Vargas.

"Don't be too hard on yourself. You did the right thing. In a precarious situation like this, it's best for her to leave this place as soon as possible." Vargas lightly patted Zeryon's shoulder.

"Please make sure Gina reaches her house safely. I can't loose her," Zeryon ordered.

"Okay. I'm leaving now."

Vargas left the art building right away to carry out Zeryon's orders. Then Heva Litten, who was standing nearby, approached slowly.

"Why are you this way? That young woman is unharmed. But you treat her like a possessive boyfriend. You just met her today." She frowned.

"I don't have to explain everything to you, Heva."

"Okay. Sorry." Heva Litten rolled her eyes.

Zeryon decided to return to his apartment. There was not much to do there. The Global Elite team would be in charge of everything. They would thoroughly clean that place, leaving no trace of residue. Even in this day and age of the internet. Their digital footprint was easily erasable. They had a skilled hacker on staff.

The tall man stepped out into the courtyard and climbed into his black Ford Mustang.  Heva Litten followed behind him since Vargas had already trailed Gina and her friends. Because Zeryon preferred to drive alone, she had always been with Vargas.

"Just sit in the front, Heva," Zeryon ordered.

"Really? Well, okay." Heva entered the vehicle. "What a cool car," she added, as she buckled her seat belt.

"Thank you. It's nothing."

"Hah, nothing is valuable to you." Heva smoothed her hair as she looked in the rearview mirror.

"Wealth is simply a facility to make life easier on this earth. It's not something I should uphold." Zeryon fastened his seatbelt, started the car, and drove to the elite residential area in San Fierro.

"Why aren't other demons like you? You don't need to drain human energy, you just take what is needed. Why do they have to be so evil?" Heva grumbled.

"They, like me, do not require a lot of human energy to survive on the earth's surface. The difference is that I don't enjoy absorbing a lot of energy. While they are satisfied with draining humans energy excessively, they think that is the fastest way to achieve their purpose. They have become energy hunger." Zeryon elaborated.

"What a beast." Heva shook her head.

"You're not afraid of them?" Zeryon asked while keeping his eyes focused on the highway.

"What am I scared of? Aren't demons capable of absorbing human energy if humans allow it? Especially when they fall in love with demons. Then their energy runs out."

"That is correct. Demons can only absorb from the genuine one and with consent. They can't force humans."

"If that's the case, I won't fall in love with them."

"I thought humans don't know when they fall in love. It just happened like that."

"Yes, that's true. At the very least, I won't be stupid enough to become their meal. Love is a choice. By the way, have you ever felt in love?" Heva shifted her gaze to Zeryon.

Zeryon slightly shrugged his shoulders and said, "I'm not sure. I can tell the difference between what is good and what is bad. I can study any theory, but there are some things I don't understand in practice. Love is one of them."

"How will demons reproduce if there is no love?"

"Who says breeding has to be romantic? Demons have lust, which is enough for them to have children."

"You cold-hearted creature." Heva sighed and looked out the window.

Zeryon laughed and returned his attention to the road. However, his mind drifted on many things, especially about Gina Blitz. He felt something different in her since he touched her fingers.
