Chapter 22 - You’re All My Enemies

Damien took a bow of gratitude and turned to Leon, ordering him to take Mishak to the cell where the slaves are being kept.

Leon nodded and respectfully dragged Mishak out of the hall, with the other soldier following behind him.

Damien turned to face Layah and harshly grabbed her by her right arm, which wasn't injured, then began to walk out of the hall.

Layah struggled to free herself, but she found it to no avail, as the strength in Damien's grip was something she couldn't handle.

He dragged her along with him and finally halted in front of a door, guarded by two soldiers.

The soldiers bowed to him in deep respect and pulled the door open for him. He walked inside the chamber, which seemed to be his luxurious room, and the guards shut the door behind him.

Layah glanced around in what seemed like fear, and before she could anticipate what would happen next, he harshly pulled her and had her seat down on a chair. Then he took his mark off, revealing the most beautiful face she had ever seen.

No, beautiful was an understatement! He was just... She honestly just can't find the word to describe it.

How was this possible? How could a man with such a cold demeanor and a cruel heart have such a magnificent and delicate-looking face? She had thought he had something like deep scars on his face, which would be the reason he was wearing a mask, but it seemed she was... wrong.

Not just that, his eyes were something else. She just couldn't point her finger at it, but she felt like she had glimpsed that eye before. She can't tell where, when, and how, but she is definitely sure she has seen those eyes before somewhere.

Suddenly hearing the sound of something dropped on the table, she jolted out of her reverie to see him taking off the golden-colored armor he was wearing, leaving himself in only his general clothing.

Her lashes blinked vigorously in a bit of confusion when he abruptly began to walk toward her, and she quickly began to back away from the chair, eventually falling off to the floor.

Damien arched his brow at her and signaled for her to sit back down on the chair.

She swallowed hard, but suddenly washed over by unknown anger, she got to her feet and gazed at him with a darkened expression apparent on her face.

"Why? Why did you bring me here as a slave? I only asked for help! You could have left if you didn't want to help. Why did you apprehend me? I am sure I have never offended you before! I mean, we don't even know each other!" She questioned, and as though bubbling up in rage within him, Damien's hands balled into a right fist and he abruptly disappeared, next heavily slamming her against the wall.

His rage-filled eyes glared furiously at her and he breathed heavily as though fighting the urge to not kill her at that moment.

"If you know what's good for you, shut up and keep quiet. I hate women who talk a lot." He said with deep hatred in his tone, and Layah's heart pounded wildly within her. What exactly could she have done to him? She's sure they have never met each other before.

She wondered and immediately blinked her eyes when he heard him instruct her to sit down on the chair.

She gulped hard and obediently sat down on the chair.

Damien narrowed his eyes and grabbed an ointment from his drawer. He returned to her and sat down beside her on the chair.

He gently grabbed her injured arm and began to add the ointment to it. Then, when he was done with it, he lifted her arm, and unbeknownst to Layah, he yanked it so hard that a shrill cry escaped her throat. "What the hell are you doing?!!" she asked behind painful tears, and Damien let go of her arm after making sure that he had fixed the bone that got dislocated.

He stood up from the chair and walked towards the door, instructing one of the guards to call for Leon.

Leon reported to him immediately and bowed in respect the instant he stepped in.

"Take her to the slave prison." He instructed him and Leon nodded, then walked up to Layah to walk her out of the chamber, but Layah, who was unwilling to spend the night in such a horrible place with the other slaves, grabbed Damien by the hand with pleading on her face, but Damien, who had no single ounce of pity in his eyes, glared viciously at her and snatched his hand back as though her touch irritated him to the core.

He dusted off the area where she had touched and turned around to have his back face her.

Leon dragged Layah out of the chamber, and the instant the door was shut, his darkened expression faded away and more of a stressed mood emerged.

He shut his eyes and a memory flashed in his mind, causing him to let out a deep breath. "You are all my enemies!" he said in a deep, unforgiving tone and walked towards the bathroom to have his bath.
