The next morning, Suzanne woke up and found Damien on the same bed as hers. She sat upright in gear, thinking if she entered his bedchamber in the night.
To her surprise, it was her room. She rubbed her eyes, pondering whether it was a dream or a reality. "What is he doing here?" she murmured.
Last night, Suzanne had her dinner alone. Damien didn't come to see her. She knew Édouard had a conversation with Damien. It impacted him to the extent that he would come to her bedroom in the night.
Suzanne moved toward Damien and poked his cheek with her fingertip. "He is indeed here. Did he force himself to come here?" she mumbled and sighed before withdrawing her finger.
Glancing around the room, she contemplated leaving the bed, when Damien clasped her arm. Suzanne tilted her head, and before she knew it, she was eased back onto the mattress. He pulled her close, opening his eyes to meet her uncertain yet surprised gaze.
"Damien!" She pronounced his name.
