"Demon beast meat?!"
The villagers gasped as soon as they heard Ruby's words. They thought that the king had lost his mind for using monster meat for their food.
"Is it safe to eat?" a middle-aged woman approached Ruby while carrying her five-year-old son. The child looked so thin and lifeless. "If it is safe, can my son eat a little?"
As a mother, the only thing she was worried about was her son's condition. She didn't care whether the meat came from demon beasts or normal animals. As long as it was edible, then she wouldn't protest.
The famine had already made it impossible for her to give her son proper food, so he was prone to fevers and complained of stomach pains every night.
"Don't worry." Ruby held the middle-aged woman's hand and smiled warmly. "If this meat is edible, then all of you will definitely get a generous ration of meat."
