Instead of eating, Ruby stared at the sumptuous dishes on her plate. Occasionally she would let out a forlorn sigh and daydream for a few moments.
"Have you lost your appetite again?" Matthew asked with concern. Lately, Ruby's body looked so healthy that he sometimes forgot that his wife's pregnancy was still in its early trimester. "Would you like something else to eat?"
Ruby shook her head slowly, then raised her head to look at Matthew. "I was thinking about Edda. I was just taking her to the Palace, but I've left her so soon."
Edda had just lost her mother, so she needed more attention. For that reason, Ruby felt guilty, but also couldn't bring a child as small as Edda with her to the Imperial Capital.

"She'll be fine." Matthew reassured her, "I've asked three experienced maids to look after her."
