Before Linora could answer, Ruby suddenly heard the door being opened loudly. Her husband stood in the doorway, breathing heavily. His whole face lit up when he saw that Ruby was awake.
"Matthew." Ruby spread her arms, signaling her husband to hug her.
Linora wanted to give them some space, so she left the room for a while, at least until they were done expressing their relief and joy.
After Linora left, Matthew hurried over to his wife and hugged Ruby so tightly that she had trouble breathing. All the anxiety and worry that had weighed on Matthew's heart for the past few weeks disappeared in no time.
He was finally able to save Ruby from the Moon Goddess's curse.
"How do you feel?" Matthew cupped Ruby's face and watched as his wife's eyes filled with tears. "Don't cry. Don't cry. You and our baby are safe now." He wiped away her tears, then kissed her eyelids several times.
