"Ruby. It's all right. You're safe now."
Matthew hugged Ruby from behind. He held Ruby's hand, which couldn't stop shaking, and kissed his wife's shoulder to show that she was no longer at the Barnette family's mansion but was with Matthew.
"I'm sorry for bringing up your old wound," Matthew whispered softly. "They won't be able to hurt you anymore now, my love. Therefore, you don't need to be afraid of them."
Mathew couldn't remove the scar on Ruby's back. However, Matthew could still try to heal the wound in his wife's heart.
"If you don't mind, I will try to relieve your pain."
Matthew's kiss on Ruby's shoulder slowly went down her back. He gently kissed Ruby's scar as if he were kissing something precious.
Ruby suddenly turned around so that she could look into Matthew's face. She lifted Matthew's face and pressed her lips against his husband's.
