"Ruby, are you hungry?"
Ruby shook her head. Even though her stomach was starting to hurt from the hunger, Ruby didn't want to complain to Matthew when she saw how hard it was for them to survive the blizzard.
"Eat this candy for a while." Matthew put candy into Ruby's mouth. "Sugar can add a little energy to your body."
Ruby was flattered to get a little attention from Matthew. Her husband always ensured Ruby was comfortable, even when they were in the middle of a snowstorm.
As the day began to turn night, the blizzard was getting thicker. The horses even began to find it difficult to keep walking on the snow and preferred slowing down.
"Your Majesty, if we continue to force ourselves to walk, the horses' legs might freeze, and it will take us a long time to continue on our way!" shouted Holden, who was at the back of the line.
