Chapter 1 - Fatal Encounter(1)

"I did it!"

Sitting on the ledge of the roof, she chuckled flailing her legs. The slippers she was wearing flew off. She watched them land ten stories down on the stone pavement.

Amusing!

It was morning—almost working hours. No one looked up even when the slippers tainted with blood landed in front of them. They all were walking with their head bowed looking into their phones, checking the stocks or whatever that they perceived as important.

Silly people! As if there isn't a whole world out there outside of their little phones and their little cubicles, they are so eager to get into…

She took a look at her hands. They were soaked in blood. The blade in her hand had stuck to her palm. It was amusing for her to learn that blood could act as glue.

Everything was amusing. She didn't remember the last time she was this happy. It must have been ages ago. She placed the blade on the ledge.

The dried blood on her made her feel itchy and the metallic smell of blood made her sick. It was the first time she drew blood. It irked her. She wanted to wash off the filth.

But no…

She decided against her judgment. Their blood on her hands is what she wanted the most. She wanted to relish in this filth for some time more.

"Oh, Melanie…You are a filthy pig!"

Melanie…

She didn't know why she remembered that name now.

Dark...

She didn't know why the one who named her thought of darkness when they looked at her. Perhaps, it was her eyes and hair.

She chuckled and looked up as she spread out her arms. It's been a while since she hears this name. It gave her warmth even when she said the name herself. No one else knows that she used to go by that name.

That name is associated with a lot of her happy memories. And also… very terrible ones.

She goes by the name Viviana now.

She breathed in the chilly air of the early winter. She felt light. Her long wavy dark hair danced around in the wind. The white silk robe that was on her shoulders slipped, revealing her smooth olive skin.

She looked at the sky. Dark clouds gathered in the sky trying to suffocate the sun's rays from reaching the humans.

But the sun is more powerful. It keeps the darkness away. Someone always told her that. 'Light wins, Melanie. Always! You are light, Melanie. The bright yellow rays of sun in the dark, signaling the presence of… '

She chuckled as tears rolled down her cheek.

"Where are you now, huh? Darkness got you? No, you burned, right? Light got you and turned you to ashes!"

She wanted to wail but she wiped her face. She did not want to remember the past. She did not want to sink into the pain her past brings.

Not now.

She retched unable to bear the scent of blood on her.

Not now.

Patting her chest, she stood up.

Although the clouds brought darkness, she saw the beauty in the grey sky as streaks of yellow rays struggled out.

"Yes, not now." She looked to her front.

Inside her beautiful, dark obsidian eyes that were dull with exhaustion, there formed a layer of mist reflecting the colorful billboards.

Her heart started to pound.

"Is it time yet?"

She mumbled as she concentrated on the chyrons running underneath those massive boards. This part of the city was covered with billboards and stock news. The little people in those cubicles need to be updated with the happenings in the financial world each second, after all.

EVANDER KASTELLO: CASANOVA OR SERIAL RAPIST? FROM CASTING COUCH TO SEX TAPES… WHAT IS THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE ENTERTAINMENT MOGUL AND INTERNATIONAL SEX TRAFFICKING RINGS?

TUNE IN…

'So, it is out… The media picked it up!'

Her lips curved to a smile. And within a few seconds, all the billboards changed to broadcast the news. Which never happens around here.

'He did it! Thank you, buddy! See you in hell!'

Standing on the ledge, she thanked her ally who is a hacker and does not value his life just like her. She looked down and everyone's eyes were on the big screens above them.

They all stood frozen, forgetting their phones. Well, not all, only a very few. Others pointed at the screens with their phone at that odd occurrence, getting over their shock pretty quickly.

'Yeah, look above, for once, silly people!'

BREAKING NEWS!!!

THE ELDEST GRANDSON OF PETER KASTELLO, EVANDER KASTELLO—THE CEO OF THE MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR ASTROFEGIA ENTERTAINMENT—WAS FOUND IN HIS HOME AFTER AN ACCIDENT THAT ALLEGEDLY DAMAGED THE PHALLUS OF …

"Come on… say the truth!" Melanie stomped her feet. "It wasn't damaged. It was cut off! It was not an accident either…"

A gust of wind blew past her, making her robe bellow in the wind. Her hundred-pound stature could not balance in that wind, and she stumbled a bit.

But her eyes did not leave the screen.

"I did it! I cut off his weenie!"

The wind picked up speed and she could see the wind swirling around her as if a storm was brewing.

She could not predict the weather, but she for sure knew that there will be a storm passing through the Kastello household.

The heir lost his weenie, without an heir!

And he never will have an heir!

She laughed.

"I did it!"

Evander Kastello is the CEO of a multi-billion-dollar entertainment company. But that's not it. It was just a front he put. He is the heir to the Kastello Mafia family.

Kastello family – is the wealthiest family in the country. They are the definition of generational wealth. Even when their country was ruled by a monarchy, they were there. And they were wealthier than the Aristocrats.

But when asked how they became wealthy, no one from that family would give a straightforward answer. If one asks around, they will get different answers depending on whom they ask.

They run many successful businesses; the general public would say if they dare to speak about them. They give employment to many.

Their kids are their incentive to shut up about the Kastello family.

Because if they speak out, their kids will burn.

If one asks government workers (which of course includes cops and other law enforcement agencies) and politicians, they will say that the Kastello family is indispensable. They won't forget to add that they are respectable citizens paying their taxes in full and are patriots of this great nation.

But if one digs deeply, one can find out that the Kastello family foundation donates to various causes. And the recipients—politicians and government officials. And there is an incentive for their silence.

And if one is not convinced, and tries to dig deeper, the Kastello family has another way of dealing with them.

Leander Kastello—the youngest grandson of Peter Kastello and the 'Street Boss' of the Kastello Mafia Empire.

She didn't know what his family calls him. But his men call him "Capo". The public calls him "The young lion" in front of him. Behind him, they call him by many other names.

The beast, the savage, the devil, the nasty SOB, and so forth.

His sole duty is to protect Crown Prince Evander and the Kastello Empire until the day Peter passes the empire to the prince.

Leander… she has seen him once before. Or maybe twice, if she takes "that" meeting into account.

True to his name, he is a Lion Man. Not just because of the big tattoo of a lion he wears on his back(So she was told) but because… He is an animal.

He stands tall at six and a half feet. She's 5'3'', well below the national average height for women, and that makes a majority of the population tall for her, but he is massive. He is what she imagined how Lucifer would look like.

Why Lucifer of all angels?

Maybe because he is sinfully handsome?

Or he could be Apollo.

And… she is thinking of him now because… Obviously!

Her lips curved to a smile hearing the resounding thumping on the stairs leading to the rooftop.

He's already found her.

Well… she did leave clues…

She has hurt his brother. For what she has done to his brother, he will…

Fill her skull with bullets? Tear her up with a machete? Burn the heart out of her? Skin her alive?

It doesn't matter!

It would surely be a fatal encounter—one that causes death.
