Rose leaned back into the chaise lounge, and Fiona spun the pendant, counting backward from ten. Rose fell into a trance, and Fiona saw nothing but darkness and heard only silence. Rose was a blank slate. There was nothing inside her soul. The girl was an empty vessel.
Duchess Greystone was troubled by what she had just experienced with Rose. It meant that she had no future. It also meant death was coming.
"Vigilax!" said Fiona to Rose, loudly snapping her fingers to wake her from the trance.
"What did you see?" Rose inquired.
"Nothing, it means nothing. Sometimes it takes work to get a read on someone's future. The good news. Is, we won't hear from Madeleine Elaine, or Doris for a while. We will try this again another time." She smiled and patted Rose on her cheek.
Giselle frowned, hearing what Fiona said to Rose. She knew there was more to the story.
