Christopher was startled by the sound of high winds howling around the corners of the lodge. It made him aware there was a terrible storm on the way, and he needed to get up and prepare for the next few days. They would need plenty of firewood and kindling to keep the lodge warm. Still drained from last night, he was procrastinating getting out of bed.
Lacing his fingers behind his head, he stared at the ceiling as he lay next to Rose. His mind was hazy after last night's conversation. She stirred, and he glanced over, staring at her sleeping figure. Rose's chestnut tresses spread behind her on the pillow. A heady scent filled the room as he smelled Rose's skin perfumed with the bath oil she had used to wash in. His senses were heightened by everything about her.
