"Duncan, I know you are behind me. Please return to the lodge. I would like to speak with The Lord alone." Rose said in a clipped tone.
While still huffing in a fury, Rose stepped into the open from the front of the lodge. The view ahead of her was so breathtaking it halted her in her tracks. Everything was clean and covered in white. Hundreds of slender, gleaming icicles formed on the leafless tree branches and at the roof's edge.
The chilly breeze whirled wildly around her, making Rose's chestnut hair flutter freely about her face. With each blast of wind, a flurry of snowflakes circled her tiny frame, leaving a cold trace on her exposed skin, then melting away in a flash.
