"I'm sorry. I should have stayed in the room. I shouldn't be wandering around your home." Rose reached for her dress sleeve and swiped at the string of saliva running down her chin from their kiss.
"Why would you apologize for walking around our own home?" Chris said with a frown.
It was imperative to him she understood that her home would always be where he was.
"Come here, Love," Christopher led Rose by the hand over to the fireplace, and they sat in the Savonarola chairs next to each other. Watching the roaring fire that kept the room well-heated. He inhaled and released a soft sigh.
"This Lodge, Thorn Mansion, and all the other places are our homes, for us. You promised to be my only girl, remember?" He beamed at Rose.
Rose did not look at him as he spoke with her. She was playing with the stitching on the hem of her dress. After a few moments, Rose glanced up to see his smile. She tried to smile back and failed miserably.
