After breakfast was announced, everyone gathered in the Lodge's great dining hall. Christopher led Rose to the head of the table to sit beside him. Scarlette was a queen to him, and he intended for her to be treated that way.
She sat down after he pulled out her chair. Sir Nash joined by sitting on the other side of her, and the rest followed. A clinking sound echoed off the walls as plates, glasses, and tableware clanked together. The men's voices bounced around the room as multiple conversations took place.
There was a strong smell of seared meat and freshly baked bread coming from the kitchen. Rose's mouth watered at the thought of strawberry jam on toast with a cup of hot tea.
