When he saw Rose's body lying motionless among the ferns, Christopher's heart sank. He fell to his knees beside her as if surrendering to an invisible enemy. In order to expose her face, he swept her hair back with shaking hands. Despite her skin being severely bruised and scratched, Rose's expression still looked peaceful.
A vacant stare flickered across his eyes, and he gasped for breath, as if suffocating. The heaviness of his body weighed on him, and he felt tired. The strength to speak had left Christopher. He observed his brother Raphael on Rose's other side in silent prayer.
Christopher's lips trembled when he opened his mouth, but then he pressed them together, doing this several times before he regained his composer and the ability to speak.
"Why would you do this to her? Rose would never have harmed you." The Lord uttered in complete despair.
"She is not dead. Look closer, Samael."
