Lord Alexsander lifted himself from his seat at the counsel table and leaned forward on it with the palms of his hands. His lips curled into a sneer while glaring at Dr. Clayton with a dangerous gleam in his eyes. He sarcastically addressed him, "Come again, Doctor? Would you like to repeat what you said?"
Giselle held her breath, bile rising in her throat. Her insides twisted, and she grimaced in pain. She could tell from Kane's reaction that this situation would not have a good outcome. She took a sip of her tea, and it only made her more nauseated.
"Kane?" Lord Alexsander heard her weakened, raspy voice, and the teacup clattered unsteadily on the saucer. He turned his attention to his wife. Stopping short of giving Dr. Clayton a fiery tongue-lashing and reminding him who ran Northbrook.
