Rose rejoined Christopher's side, and she noticed the store personnel were standing next to the wall in a neat formation, like soldiers anticipating their instructions. The establishment had been vacated by customers, and a stillness hovered in the air.
The only audible voices belonged to Chris and Lady Harvey.
Chris held onto Rose's hand while she leaned on his arm. He could see she was going to do her usual turtle act and be coy.
He announced proudly. "Allow me to introduce you to Lady Elizabeth, a person I have known for a long time. She is the proprietress and is going to lavish you with the Royal treatment."
Rose observed a self-satisfied smirk playing across The Lord's face and his eyebrows waggled at her. While his gaze stayed fixed upon the Lady Elizabeth. All the while, the lady reciprocated with a polite smile.
He desired Lady Harvey to be privy to what he was communicating to Rose. Chris bowed his head and breathed a secret in her ear.
