The room went still as Giselle waited for a reply from Evangeline. She watched the young nurse shuffle her feet. Her fingers fidgeted as her hands clasped each other, and Giselle could see her struggling to come up with the right response.
Evangeline looked at her tidy white shoes and pondered how the Alexsanders would take the news that she could communicate with unborn infants. However, she was hesitant to share the information.
Early in her career, she had made that mistake. The expectant mother drove her to exhaustion, having her use her abilities to check on the child constantly to be sure it was doing okay. But Evangeline also knew that they were both unnatural creatures such as herself and they would understand how taxing those abilities are on the users' mind and body.
A small sigh puffed through her lips, and she narrowed a serious gaze at Lord Alexsander and Giselle.
