Christopher positioned himself between Rose and the man on the floor. He held up his finger and placed it on her lips.
"Wait a minute, Rose." he interrupted. "Before we go turning down his offer, let's see what he has to say first."
Rose scowled at Christopher, swatting his hand away from her face.
"And you…" she expressed with fury in her tone. "What are you doing here? I thought we were done, over, through… I read the letter Duncan delivered to me today—why have you come here?"
Her words were terse as she added, "And one more thing, where do you get off introducing yourself to strangers as my husband?"
Christopher clutched Rose by the shoulders. Holding her at arm's length so she could look him directly in the eyes.
"Calm down for a minute, will ya? And let me explain."
Rose took a deep inhale of breath, holding it, trying not to explode. She was an emotional train wreck thanks to the man standing before her and his antics.
