The morning had arrived again, and Rose lounged in the giant marble tub of the guest bath. She had excused the maids from helping her. She did not like them touching or seeing her body. Rose knew how hideous the scares looked and did not want to see the pity or repulsed looks they gave her.
Her mind went back to yesterday and the chess game with Chris. She giggled to herself, thinking about the look of shock when she checkmated him. It was cute how he reacted.
So surprised and pleased that she had beaten him at the game. Rose longed for more days, like yesterday. She could get used to being treated that way.
There was a sudden frantic knocking coming from the bathroom door, and it made Rose jump.
Then she heard a voice exclaim.
"The dressmaker is here. She wants to ensure you don't need any last-minute touches on the dress," Giselle said, speaking to Rose from the bathroom door.
