Rose's eyes went wide, and she was about to say something when Dante finished his thought.
"I'm sorry I didn't listen to you about Magnus. I received a message from Kane today. Are you alright?"
Her heart stopped racing at hearing his words, and she answered Dante.
"I am. I appreciate your concern." She patted her father's hand.
Rose breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that if Dante thought she had been with Christopher Thorn, he would have had a kitten.
"Hmm..., your hands are still cold. Do you want an extra log in the fireplace?"
"Yes, that would be pleasant." Rose nodded at her father.
"Dante?"
"Mhm…" he hummed to Rose, speaking his name.
"I'm sorry about our argument before I left."
The Count could tell that Rose was eating crow by her voice. He did not want to rub it in. I am, too, my darling. We were both having a bad day. Let's not dwell on it anymore." He turned to gaze at her and gave Rose a sheepish grin.
