Rose continued.
"If I had told Valerio of the plan, I would have been deemed a traitor, and Valerio would have suffered much more than just his blindness. They would have caused him much more pain…"
She smiled. "These were some of my fears, but the real reason why I never told him was because I was afraid that he would hate me. I was scared that he would start doubting my love for him and eventually might leave because he would probably begin to think I claim to love him, not because I really do but because I think he would be getting the title."
"I thought back then that simply shutting him out and letting him go was the best solution. I wanted to have him back later, but it was already too late. By leaving him for Logan, I made him believe that I had in fact never loved him at all, which was not true at all." She shook her head, her voice filled with sadness.
