Brad hugged her instinctively, his heart breaking as he heard her sobs. He wanted to tell her not to cry. He, however, couldn't utter a word as his throat was tight.
All he did was rub her back up and down in an attempt to comfort her.
Anastasia hugged him even tighter, as if afraid he would push her away.
"Anastasia," he said quietly. "It is getting late. Come, I will drive you home."
"Kiss me," she said softly.
Brad looked down at her in astonishment. He thought he had heard it wrongly.
Her voice was barely audible. He thought he heard her say something, but he only heard "Kiss me."
Why would she ask him to kiss her?
Just as he was pondering, she bent her neck backward and looked up at him.
"Kiss me."
This time, he heard it loud and clear. That meant he had heard it correctly.
His heart had broken all previous records for speed. His mind and soul were soaring to new heights.
