Chapter 3 - Chapter Three: The Unwelcomed Guest.

The dinner that followed suit after the party was really boring for the young miss. She was seated in between her supposed fiance, and her stepbrother.

His threats earlier about hurting Blake were still embedded vividly in her mind, and she couldn't help but try to keep quiet about it.

Atleast she was thankful amidst Adrian's assault on her on a daily basis, she was happy that he knows nothing about her secret relationship with Adrik.

"You don't seem to like the food i assume?" Blake asked, cutting deep into her thoughts as her head raised up to the cute, young gentleman who was looking at her.

Polina could admit that he was a  fine young man, but she wasn't in any rush to claim anything about him yet.

Just like their  parents, who were basically uniting the  family using their marriage as a camouflage, everything was strictly about business.

But his gentle attitude, and smile bothered her. For someone who knew nothing about her, he seems to love this arrangement.

She couldn't say a word back to him, so

she was just there staring at him. But the sudden cough of her dad, brought her back to reality as she realized that everyone was staring at her.

"Dear, It seems you don't have much of an appetite? "Blake's mother interrupted this time around, an unpleasant look on her face while watching her future daughter inlaw.

Polina knew what this meant, she didn't like her and neither did she like the woman either. But it was different with the husband, who spoke up immediately when he noticed what his wife was trying to do.

"The two still need time to get to know each other, Madrid, and i don't think a mere dinner would help with us here too." Antonio said, smiling at Polina and then at his son, who grinned at his father's words.

Polina could swear she heard Adrain snort in a breath, and the sudden noise he made while dropping his cutlery down dragged everyone's attention to him.

"So,what do you think of that Alex?" Antonio White, Blake's father shifted the conversation over to her dad, who she was avoiding his gaze for a while now.

She could tell that he's mad that she's creating unnecessary attention to herself, while all she was supposed to do, was to make sure that her new family sees the reason to love her.

He warned her about misbehaving, not that he was going to lay his hands on her. No, he doesn't get that much violent with her considering that she's the only daughter he had right now.

But that doesn't  mean that he doesn't have other diverse means to punish her if she misbehaves, putting Adrain in charge of her movement for a week now is too much to handle.

So, she tried all she could to look good and presentable for her new family.

"I think we shouldn't be in a hurry to get both of them married, the children need to get acquainted with each other  right?" He added a suggestion, that made Polina's eyes light up at his words.

The man was considerate, unlike her family but it was so sad, that amidst trying to spend time with Blake, she wouldn't be able to unlove the man in her heart for someone else.

This time around, she looked up at her dad with pleading eyes to give her a break, at least he had to consider the man's suggestion as he was the one who had the say in all of this.

"No" He says, deadpanned with a serious look on his face, while looking away from Polina whose heart shattered into pieces  hearing him say that.

"There's no necessity for that, they can get acquainted with each other with the time they have left" he added, before taking the glass of wine up and turned to Mr. White, "Allow me to pour you a drink"

"That would be so nice of you",Blake's father affirmed, as the duo enjoyed themselves but it wasn't enjoyable for Polina.

She could feel her breath seizing with each passing moment she was here, and if care wasn't taken, she might pass out right here in front of everyone .

She saw the way Adrian's jaw clenched tightly in anger, he also wouldn't approve of this marriage if it was his decision to make .

But the poor young girl was far more worried about him, not  ruining this night for her dad. it was like her supposed fiance could understand her mood, and covered her hand with his while rubbing on her engagement ring she wore.

She jumped on her seat in shock, and retracted her hands away from his and stood up," I..i need to use the restroom", she nearly stuttered, but one look at her father put her back in one piece, she didn't wait for  anyone's permission before leaving the gathering.

The moment she was within closed doors, the young lady burst out into tears. She covered her mouth with her palm, an act to restrict anyone from hearing her cry.

Although it was worthless, her dad wouldn't change his mind if he saw her crying. He's heartless, and that had been the reason her elder brother had run away from him and his unnerving attitude.

"I can't do..this anymore" she mumbled to herself, and did her business before patting her face with the water to clear  evidence that she was crying.

She tried to open the door, but it was pushed open by nobody but Adrain, who pushed her in and locked the door after him.

Uh, not again.

"What a ..re you doing, let me out," She cried, pushing her way for the door but he dragged her back, and pushed her against the wall.

"Don't act all sad, I do know you are happy that you are finally able to leave me, you ingrate!".

He tightened his hold on her wrist, and smirked at the look on her face, she was crying again.

"You know nothing asshole, let me out or am going to report everything to dad," She threatened him, for the first time she didn't know what exactly triggered her courage.

Adrian burst out laughing hysterically at her words, and withdrew his hands from her. " Go ahead, I dare you Polina, if you don't want dear Adrik to die by his hands"

She froze right on that spot.

How did…

"Shocked right?" He asked, with a coy grin hanging off the edge of his lips.

"Please don't tell dad, Adrian,"Polina found herself begging his cocky self, even before he had made his intentions  known on what he would do with this information he had about her and Adrik.

"Why should i listen to you?  For the records, you deserve a beating for going against the rules, and having something to do with an ivanov. You have a death wish don't you?"

"Adrik …we love each other, please help me Adrian. I can't marry Blake," polina uttered, even without realizing what she was doing.

She didn't know what sort of danger she was in, and yet she was declaring her love for an enemy of the family.

"Polina, are you okay?" She heard Blake's voice outside the door, and looked at her brother immediately while pleading with her eyes for him not to leak her secret.

"Poli.." Blake called again.

"I'm f..ine, I will be out in a sec,"She said, turning the water on, before she took one last glance at Adrian, then came out to meet the worried face of Blake.

"You were  taking a lot of time, I was actually worried.."Blake trailed on, his shyness getting the best of him but Polina cut to the chase.

"You don't have to be, stop pretending that we have something going on between us. You don't know me, and i don't know you too,".

She decided to make things clear to him, and left even before he could say anything, but she heard him calling after her.

But she ignored him, and made her way back where the others were, only to find out that they had visitors.

No!

An  unwelcome guest who was no one other than Adrik who stood looking at her, with a gun pointed to his head by her father.
