I falter mid-step and almost fall down, but manage to regain my balance. My hands grow sweaty and I wipe them on my shirt as I look around. Nothing happens—on the first glance, at least. But Zeke frowns, and my sixth sense warns me about something bad.
"This was an alarm. We don't have much time before someone comes down," Zeke says and slithers forward, only to stop two meters away when I don't follow. "Well, Maya?"
I shake my head and jog inside the storage. "Damn, you were supposed to be all-powerful, all-knowledgeable, and definitely able to notice every danger on my way, Zeke!"
His face darkens, and I immediately regret my sharp words. Then he turns away from me, and the feeling that I'm about to be torn apart like a plush toy by a five-year-old subsides. "The locals are still as ruthless and cunning as they were. They masked the secondary ward with the aura of this place. Now, don't waste our time. Look for the skull—it's somewhere there."
