Chapter 2 - The Blue Eyed Man

It felt like a dream, maybe I'm dreaming, because this cannot be real. I was out of my cell after months and walking the corridor with two men behind me and my buyer before me leading the way. The windows were shut and barely any light came through. I just watched everything with my broad eyes because I felt like a newborn baby brought into the world for the first time. I thought I would spend years in that cell and let death take me, I thought that was the reason he bought me but it seems like I was wrong.

His words earlier to me… about me being useful and showing my worth, what does he mean by that?

He suddenly halted and I did too. The ground was cold because I was barefoot and the movement got my chains hurting my skin more, but I was more focused on what will happen next than worrying about my pain.

He diverts to me and I got a better look at him, he was well lustrous, maybe a noble, because he looked like one all polished up in his light blue suit and his gelled hair slick backward, I caught notice of his mustache, perfectly structured under his nose, he appeared to be in his forties but something tells me he was older than that.

He placed a hand on his chin, and I couldn't deny how handsome he looked.

"You look awful," he nods. "I can't have you out there like this" he mumbled under his breath.

"Get me, Teresa!" he said to one of the men behind me and I heard retreating footsteps.

My hand balled in a fist when he circled me as his uncomfortable eyes roamed my body, I was still on my rags but it felt like he was undressing me with his eyes.

He stopped before me and gripped my chin but I remained still as my dead eyes stared back at him.

"Interesting…" he mused. "Are you not afraid, my precious?"

Why does he call me precious? I'm anything but that.

"I haven't heard you speak since I bought you"

I was locked away the moment he purchased me, there was no need to speak.

"Speak," he commanded. But I remained silent. He gripped my chin more harshly making a whimper release from me at his uncomfortable hold. His touch was icy cold too and it sent all warning signals to my head.

"Hmm... at least you make a sound"

"I'm here, tell me love what do you need for me, I'm busy with the preparations already"

I heard a feminine voice behind me.

"Ha, Teresa there you are" he lets me go like he was done with me but I had a feeling that it was the opposite.

"I need your help getting my prize ready"

I felt her gaze on me from behind.

"Oh is this the one?" I heard the clicking of heels, my gaze was leveled so I set my eyes only on her shoes, they looked different from the sully ones I wore at the orphanage with barely enough soles to keep them together, these were expensive ones, I concluded in my head for I have never seen shiny shoes before. "The one you kept locked up for a year"

A year? I was locked up for a year?! I lost count so I guess it was set right.

I felt her hand on my chin as she forced me to look at her. What is with these people and my chin? Or more making me look them in the eye?

She's beautiful, so beautiful but it was the makeup that made that possible, blonde hair in heavy curls and kept in a bun, her gray eyes pinning on me. She let me go and next disgust found her features.

"She's filthy" she wiped her hand she used to touch me with a white handkerchief.

"And you're the only one I can trust to make her at least presentable"

"Here I am getting ready for the event, a tiresome work you have imposed on me and now you want me to do what? Babysit her?"

"Shh…" he made a sound as he grabbed her waist so that his lips were to her ears, he mumbled something to her that I couldn't hear.

"Ugh!" she growled, pulling away and facing me with an unpleasant look. "Follow me girl!" she barked at me striding ahead.

And I followed.
