Chapter 9 - We are not from here

Chen Xi sat in silence. He felt as if the hospital ward was stifling to be in so he walked over and opened the window.

It could be said that his room was the best in the hospital because he could see the city's night view from where he was, it was breathtaking.

In his right hand he held a mobile phone and on the screen was the picture of a girl, it was Lin Ye.

This was the same one Nu Yang had taken back then.

In the photo she was facing down keenly focusing on something. Her hair which had been tied up found its way down and some strands had fallen on her face. Her eyes were bright and her smile gentle, she was a breathtaking beauty.

Chen Xi pulled another photo out of nowhere and stared at the two figures in it. One was smiling widely and had the air of youth around her.

She had not changed much yet she had also changed, Chen Xi's heart constricted in pain.

He slowly traced the girl with his index finger and murmured ever so silently, "Hua…"

Right there and then the hospital doors shot open and there stood the person he was thinking about, it was Lin Ye.

She was dressed simply and her face was flushed. she was also sweating profusely. Chen Xi hurried to her in slight worry, "Did you run here? You should be careful!"

His reproachful tone left Lin Ye speechless.

she pushed him away lightly and entered the room. she then banged the door after her and took the seat next to the bed.

Chen Xi followed her inside, the worry still evident in his eyes. He moved over and fetched some warm water from the dispenser and brought it over.

Lin Ye took over the cup as she watched Chen Xi sit down on the bed. His robes were slightly opened and Lin Ye had a glimpse of the bronze, toned chest. She coughed and looked away hastily.

Chen Xi smiled and fixed his lapels languidly.

Lin Ye finished her water in one swig an put the cup down. An awkward silence ensued.

Chen Xi looked at her, "Wifey, have you come back because you missed me?"

Lin Ye face palmed. She was already numb to such address so she simply looked the other way and coughed.

She looked up, the questions in her mind slowly surfacing, "You seem to know me from somewhere, where do you know me from?"

Chen Xi did not seem to be someone out of his mind so there should not have been a reason for him to play around with her.

Chen Xi regarded her deeply, "I already told you that you are my wife but you don't seem to believe me."

Lin Ye scoffed, "When did we get married?"

Chen Xi looked up, "Six and a half years ago,"

Lin Ye looked at him as if he was stupid. Six and a half years ago she was just nineteen, was he out of his mind?

Chen Xi knew that she did not believe him. He looked at her, "You don't believe me? If you don't then you won't believe what I am going to say next"

Lin Ye laughed, "What is it?"

Chen Xi became serious all of a sudden, "We are not from this world Lin Ye."

This time, Lin Ye laughed out loudly, "Are you out of your mind?"

This time she was sure that Chen Xi had indeed lost his mind, "Young master Chen, you really have lost your mind..."

Chen Xi froze. He remembered a scene from back then. She would always call him 'young master Chen' whenever she wanted something from him.

At first, it annoyed him greatly but he became accustomed to it over time. He even...liked it.

Chen Xu stared at her laughing. He could only shake his head and added smoke to the fire even if she would not believe, "We are from a parallel universe..."

"Hahahahahahah!" Lin Ye continued laughing. She was a science person but even she could not believe something as absurd as what Chen Xi was telling her about.

Chen Xi wanted to speak some more but Lin Ye's phone rang at that particular time, it was Wen Shao Feng.

Lin Ye hurriedly picked it up and when the call was connected Wen Shao Feng's rushed voice filtered through, "Beauty...Lin Ye please save me...sa...v...e...."

The call was abruptly cut after that.

Lin Ye instantly stood up!

"I have to go..."
