Chapter 27 - Save

As Lux transformed into his alter ego, the Light King, he watched with a keen eye as the four powerful monsters closed in on Blaire.

The situation was dire; Disaster Class monsters were already a challenge, but with a Catastrophe Class among them, this was a life-threatening predicament.

The 'Light King' radiated an aura of confidence and power, his golden armor gleaming brilliantly.

With a swift, graceful movement, he appeared before Blaire, shielding her from the menacing monsters.

His voice resonated with authority and assurance as he addressed them, "Stop right there, creatures. I am the Light King, guardian of humanity. Release your pursuit of this woman, or face the consequences."

The Catastrophe Class monster, with its enormous, menacing presence, hesitated for a moment.

Blaire, in her bewildered state, glanced up at her savior, realizing that he was none other than the mysterious Light King, her crush. 'He's... Oh... My... God...'

But she said nothing, for fear that revealing her feelings would scare him away.

The Disaster Class monsters, on the other hand, growled and prepared to attack, not intimidated by the Light King's presence.

Without wasting any more time, the Light King launched a blinding burst of light, disorienting the monsters and making them take a step back.

Using his incredible speed and agility, he swiftly moved Blaire to safety, far away from the Catastrophe Class monster's reach.

Once they were at a safer distance, he turned his attention back to the pursuing creatures.

"Now, monsters, you have two choices: retreat or face your fate," the Light King declared, his voice filled with authority.

The Disaster Class monsters, shaken by the Light King's unleashed aura, decided to bow their heads slowly.

The powerful aura that he radiated was enough to make them aware that they were only beggars compared to him.

Only the Catastrophe Class monster looked at Lux somewhat defiantly; it wanted to preserve its pride even in such a dangerous moment.

With a powerful burst of light, the 'Light King' sealed the Catastrophe Class monster in a blinding cage of light, rendering it powerless.

Blaire watched in awe as the Light King had successfully saved her from certain death.

As the Catastrophe Class monster struggled in the light prison, the Light King turned to Blaire and spoke, "How did you manage to attract so many monsters? And such powerful ones at that..."

Blaire blushed a bit when the Light King asked her that, looking like a teenager who was about to say something embarrassing, softly clutching her robe.

"I was only trying to get my hands on some precious-looking fruit, but it was guarded by one of those three Disaster Class monsters. Seeing that I was about to defeat it, it called for its companions..."

"After a stalemate, they all roared in unison, summoning that menacing guy over there too. I had no other choice but to run from them."

If someone heard that Blaire, The Fiery Witch, was acting like a teenage girl interrogated by her parents, they wouldn't believe it.

Blaire was known for her temper that caused headaches even for the Academy's higher-ups, and she was constantly getting in trouble with other academies for putting some Instructors in their place.

Lux softly sighed upon hearing that, thinking that it was a lot like his own story back then.

Unconsciously, he patted her head softly, "Don't worry, things like that happen quite randomly. But since you still have your fruit and everything is fine, you should be happy."

"By the way, can I see those fruits?" After a while, Lux asked, finding it strange that even a Catastrophe Class monster was so enraged that he decided to pursue Blaire for who knows how many kilometers.

Still stunned by the sudden pat on her head, Blaire took some time to get back to her senses, quickly taking off her robe, allowing Lux to take a look at her stash of fruit.

"I put the fruits in a secret compartment of my robe..." Once again, Blaire blushed a bit when she saw her Light King in shining armor glancing at her chest.

It also made her feel proud as a woman to have him look at her that way.

She was a diehard fan of Light King since he first made his appearance, even going as far as collecting every piece of information about him and having posters of his shining moments in her room.

Taking out the fruits, Blaire was a bit scared when she saw the four monsters roaring at her in unison.

"Silence!" Lux roared, then he raised his hand and released four rays of light towards the monsters' heads.

Thud! They all fell down, not a single breath remaining in their massive bodies.

This scene completely shocked Blaire.

She knew that the Light King was powerful, but seeing him so casually end the lives of such powerful monsters right in front of her eyes made her feel like she was dreaming.

'What first place on a ranking?! Light King is above anyone on Earth! He's probably the only human to reach such heights of power.'

'I'm afraid... If he wanted to, he could wipe out every single life on our planet.'

A bit afraid after seeing such a scene, Blaire was also inwardly excited, maybe a bit too much...

'What strange fruits. I've never seen anything like that before.' Not minding Blaire, Lux carefully studied the fruits before raising his head to look straight into Blaire's eyes.

"Can I take one of them to study? If there's something I can discover from them, I'll drop by the Academy and find you."

With stars in her eyes, Blaire quickly nodded, afraid that the Light King would be mad at her if she disagreed.

"Yes, yes! In fact, you can take me too... I mean... The fruits, you can take the rest of the fruits too!"

As red as an apple, Blaire turned away her gaze from the Light King, afraid that the latter would be weirded out by her.

Lux was speechless seeing such a formidable woman acting like a girl in love; he couldn't help but think of someone else who acted the same way.

After a while, Blaire gave Lux one of the fruits to study.

"Thank you. I'll be sure to bring some good news back. Can you return alone from here? I have to inspect the rest of the Portal."

"T-There's no problem! I can go by myself." Saying so, Blaire pretended to leave, only to turn around and look into Lux's eyes, as if trying to engrave his unseen(?) face into her mind.

After a while, she completely left Lux's vision, 'What a strange woman. I hope I won't meet her in the future...'

Rarely, but it still happened, fate was a bitch.
