He was already tugging me from the bed, his face serious, but partially hidden by his hair that was falling around his face because he hadn't taken the time to tie it back.
He averted his eyes when pulling back the quilts revealed my legs above the knee because my nightgown had ridden up—or been pulled up?
I was still confused, my skin still thrumming with the heat of that dream, my breath fast and shallow. But I prayed he'd put that down to fear as I swung my legs out of the bed and off the side, pushing my hair back and trying to ignore the fact that my nightgown was little more than thin cotton and I suddenly felt very, very bare and vulnerable as my breasts swung when I slid off the bed.
But before I could even turn, Ash had pulled his own cloak around my shoulders, wrapping me in the heavy cape like a blanket, tucking it under my chin and tying it there with sharp, efficient tugs.
