I was furious.
Our time was quickly slipping away, and now we were left here with a fragile escapee, a possible Physicist, and awaiting the arrival of a man who might be a great asset, or a villain—with no way for us to safely find out.
Could I even leave? Or ask them to go?
David and I had assumed the two had fled and were probably out of Arinel by now, either returned to Zara's father if they were loyal to the Physicists, or hiding somewhere far away if they weren't.
"Tell me again," I muttered, turning to face Lizbeth and taking Hildie's hand and holding it behind my back. "Right from the beginning. From the wedding. Every step that brought you here, and everything you've discussed."
Hildie sighed, but squeezed my hand. And Lizbeth swallowed, then nodded.
"As you know, I had agreed to the wedding of… to the farce of it…"
