The sun had moved before she started to tremble and her breath was loud in the room.
I'm not sure what time it was when I picked her up from the couch and carried her to the bedroom, but to my joy, she didn't hesitate—she let her legs drop when I lifted her. The dress dragging down her body because of the weight of the fabric.
"Liz," I gasped.
"Let it go," she whispered. "I want to see what it's like."
Stepping over the crumpled fabric, I groaned and held her tightly against me so she didn't feel exposed, then hurried her to the bed. She clung to me like the monkey's I'd seen in the east as I leaned over the large bed and threw the covers back, then lowered her to the mattress.
