Chapter 15 - The Ancient Legend of Wolfdale 1

Professor Marcus!

Liz needed to meet with Professor Marcus to explain the multitude of peculiar yet extraordinary occurrences that had unfolded within her.

How was this even possible? How could this be happening?

Liz stared at her hands and face once again, unable to quell the sense of wonder that had enveloped her. It felt like a miracle, surreal yet astonishing. How could all the wounds simply vanish?

As she contemplated the profound implications of her own inexplicable healing, Liz felt a swirl of emotions.

She knew that confronting Professor Marcus was a crucial step on her journey to decipher the mysteries surrounding the hospital.

The desire to share her discoveries and seek answers was matched only by the burning curiosity that had ignited within her.

With determination coursing through her veins, Liz knew she couldn't delay any longer. It was time to confront the enigmatic professor and perhaps unravel the threads that connected her experiences to the secrets of the Moonchild Prophecy and the remarkable recoveries of the patients.

What was truly happening to her? No, rather, what was truly happening within this place?

The weight of uncertainty pressed heavily upon Liz's thoughts. What was the actual truth behind her own inexplicable healing? But even more pressing was the question of what truly transpired within the walls of this mysterious hospital.

In an instant, the images of the transformed patients flitted through her mind, like a series of puzzle pieces falling into place. Their recoveries, their astonishing rejuvenation—it was as if they held the key to unraveling the enigma that had taken hold of her.

She was experiencing the same as they did.

Liz's mind raced, connecting the dots between her experiences and those of the patients. A realization washed over her like a sudden wave of clarity: she was not alone in this journey of transformation.

The parallel between her inexplicable healing and the recoveries she had witnessed among the patients was undeniable. She had become a part of a phenomenon, a tapestry woven with threads of mystery and wonder.

It felt like a heavy blow that left her struggling to explain anything. No matter how she looked at it, this was clearly not a medical matter that one would encounter outside of Wolfdale.

This was not a medical anomaly that could be neatly categorized or explained away by scientific reasoning. The answers she sought were far from conventional, existing within the realm of the extraordinary.

The realization hit Liz like a tidal wave—a profound sense of bewilderment and frustration. Her years of rigorous education and training as a future physician suddenly felt inadequate and irrelevant in the face of the inexplicable occurrences surrounding her. As a medical student, she had been taught to rely on scientific principles, evidence-based reasoning, and established medical knowledge to diagnose and treat ailments. But the enigma that now enveloped her defied all conventional understanding.

Liz splashed water onto her face with a feeling of intense exasperation. The drops of water served as a fleeting release from the overwhelming emotions swirling within her. She wiped her face with a paper towel and let out a deep, cleansing breath, allowing the coolness of the water to soothe her momentarily.

Gazing at the twilight that hung in the sky, Liz was certain that Professor Marcus would still be in his laboratory.

She reached for her coat and quickly made her way to the professor's location. The echoing sound of her shoes reverberated as she hurried across the wooden floor, her steps filled with purpose. With determination guiding her, she ascended the stairs that led to the topmost floor.

Liz knew she had to inquire about the miraculous remedy Professor Marcus had provided, one that seemed to have transformed her skin as if she were shedding an old layer. She wasn't a snake, but the phenomenon she had experienced left her momentarily speechless.

Navigating the corridors, Liz's steps carried her closer to the source of the commotion. The noise emanating from the lab grew louder, a symphony of clinking glassware and hushed discussions. Liz's pace slowed as she neared the entrance, and she peered inside.

Inside the lab, Professor Marcus and his team of assistants were engrossed in their bio-molecular research. The room hummed with activity, the air heavy with the scent of chemicals and the tangible energy of discovery. Liz observed as they meticulously manipulated samples, analyzed data, and engaged in animated conversations about their findings.

Despite her hesitation, Liz knocked on the door. "Professor?" she called out.

The one called Professor Marcus looked up, his brows furrowing upon seeing the girl's face. In the next moment, his mouth hung agape as he noticed something different.

"Your face... your wounds... everything?" the professor's voice trailed off. He blinked rapidly, his mouth agape. His gaze traveled down to Liz's hands, and his expression transformed into one of astonishment, as if he had just witnessed a ghost.

Liz was about to pose her question, but Professor Marcus spoke first. "What... what happened to your face and hands? Your wounds?"

Liz furrowed her brow. Why did Professor Marcus appear so dumbfounded, and why was he the one asking with confusion etched across his face?

Shouldn't it be Liz who was supposed to ask that? Why had she healed so rapidly? Without a trace even! How could this be happening? The tangle of questions and bewilderment gnawed at her, and the roles seemed to have reversed in this bewildering encounter.

The professor set down his chemistry glassware, his eyes narrowing in perplexity. His assistants, who had been engrossed in their experiments, now turned their attention as well. They mirrored the exact same expression as the professor—startled yet amazed.

Professor Marcus took a step closer, his eyes fixated on Liz's face as if searching for clues where the wounds should have been. His assistants followed suit, their curiosity piqued by the astonishing sight before them.

"What happened? Your skin... this is unbelievable. Your wounds vanished?" Professor Marcus inquired, his voice tinged with astonishment. He shook his head as if trying to make sense of the incredible sight before him. His eyes, usually analytical and composed, now held a mixture of wonder and bewilderment.
