She had simply never afforded them an opportunity. Yet, they were not ignorant nor predisposed to forsake her. However, this contemplation led her to another realization. Her mother had not always been this way, at least not when she began to take notice. The change occurred, and the catalyst was the demise of her father.
The resolution that had proven elusive due to conflicting sentiments became more apparent as her eyes fluttered open. She discerned the imperative need to rescue her father, to shield them. Much in her life seemed to unravel post her father's demise and her mother's subsequent remarriage. The realization crystallized that she hadn't grasped this earlier due to her self-absorption.
