Chapter 36 - Battle for Florathell

In the dead of night, as the moon hung high in the sky, the Vale's knights meticulously executed their daring plan to breach the castle walls. Ropes were distributed among the trainees and knights alike, serving as a lifeline and a means to ascend the seemingly insurmountable fortifications.

With the ropes securely fastened to their waists, the knights formed a human chain, linking themselves together in a display of unity and determination. They braced themselves against the stone walls, using the strength of their comrades as boosts to propel themselves higher and closer to their objective. Due to the amount of strength the Knights had it was easier to climb and jump due to their physical strength.

In the darkness, the air was filled with hushed whispers and the slight rustling of fabric as the knights silently ascended, their movements guided by a mix of instinct and rigorous training. Each step was calculated, each grip firm, as they inched their way upwards, defying gravity and the expectations of their adversaries. They were extremely swift in their actions as they scaled the wall without alerting the enemy.

While the majority of the Trainees made camp outside the castle walls, a select few pressed on towards the heart of the fortress and within that small group was Rowan and James. These chosen warriors, driven by a singular purpose, sought to find and confront the king, as Ethan had commanded them that he did not want unnecessary bloodshed. But if one defies and tries to stop them, they would be killed without mercy.

With urgency, the small group sprinted towards the castle's inner sanctum. Their armor clanged and their footsteps echoed through the empty corridors as they navigated the labyrinthine passages, their eyes focused on the grand throne room at the heart of the castle.

The defenders, caught off guard by the audacity and speed of the attackers, scrambled to regroup and defend their king. The knights, fueled by the knowledge that time was of the essence, fought with a ferocity and determination that bordered on recklessness.

Blades clashed, sparks flew, and the air was thick with the sounds of battle inside the castle walls. The castle's defenders fought valiantly to protect their monarch, but the invading knights, driven by a fierce sense of purpose, pressed on, their resolve unyielding.

As the clash of steel intensified, the small group of knights reached the grand throne room. There, amidst the opulent surroundings, they confronted the king, his regal presence.

"Who are you?" he questioned. "You should have expected for us to come and visit O King of Florathell, for was it not you who wanted our land?" Rowan asked back

A certain realization dawned upon the king. "I see, I have waited for the moment for you to retaliate but for you to come and seek me yourself with only these few numbers. You court death" he said slowly and a mountain like pressure spread out.

"We would not have come if our King had not thought we had enough stregnth" James who was silent the whole team walked forward and spoke.

"And who may you be?" he asked. "O Rowan it seems we have forgotten to introduce ourselves. Wel no matter, my name is James Lord Commander of the Obsidian Guard Order of the Kingdom of Verdant Vale."

"My name is Rowan, Lord Commander of the Kingdom of Verdant Vale. Pleasure to meet you" Rowan said half bowing mockingly. As soon as they finished their introductions, two equally powerful pressures spread out not at all inferior to the king's.

The king was at first listening with disdain and confusion when he heard the term Lord Commander but when they spread out their aura, his face had a visible change in color as he fearfully called out. " T-two P-peak A-pp-prentice Knights"

Seeing as the king had already begun to panic and break down, Rowan struck first. The king was, even thou alone, still a Peak apprentice knight. He countered Rowans attack and struck back only to be blocked by James. Seeing him being blocked by James, Rowan took this opportunity to take his head which he o so skillfully did.

Afterwards they only waited for the sun to rise, and they would officially conquer Florathell. The morning sun rose once more and as its rays shone upon the city walls one could see an army of soldiers waiting on the walls.

Magnus was staring at the walls when he slowly rode toward the walls. "Enough soldiers of Argenthrall. Today you have already been conquered, your king is slain, and you have no reason to fight. If you intend to fight, then so be it, we won't have mercy. He spread his aura out to intimidate the people.

"Lies, don't spout lies. How have we been conquered; you reside outside and even though you are a Peak stage knight we also have a peak stage knight. Where does your confidence come from?'' the commander of the city guards demanded.

"From this" Magnus replied with a smirk on his face. The guards on the wall then saw another man riding toward the walls with the same strength as the one that spoke, and they started to panic. When they started to get nervous and panic, James who came forward threw a head straight unto the wall right before the commander.

When the soldiers saw the bloodied head, they cried out. "T-the Kings dead. He is dead.''

"There is no need for bloodshed no more, our King has commanded us that those who surrender will be taken in as a citizen and those who won't end up just like their king." Magnus threatened, staring coldly at the guard commander.

"I-I" the man looked around and saw the despair in the soldiers' eyes. He then looked down at Magnus and with a sigh he answered," We surrender."
