"Evangeline.."
"Ah, yes. Did you like soup?" Dami paused and realized he had not eaten the meals. He looked at the spinach as if it was his mortal enemy and stabbed it hard before taking a bite.
The food went to his throat but did not go down. He could neither spit it nor swallow it. So he could only nod and to his relief, she nodded looking away.
The dinner was silent after that but it did not feel cold or awkward. There was a strange warmth between the newly wed couple that the maids could not help but sigh in their hearts. Finally, this cold place felt like home.
But as the dinner finished and the maids took off the dishes, Evan still did not move. She stood there with a red face again.
"Evangeline.."
"Are we going to share the room tonight too?" the maid paused, some covered their mouth with their hands, afraid that their gasp would distract the couple.
Dami looked at the staring maids and a rare genuine smile flickered on his lips.
