Chapter 61 - Quest Complete

*BANG*

Shye was suddenly sent flying by a blackwood boar which seemed to be an adult male.

Fortunately, he saw the boar charging in his peripheral vision and managed to raise his greatswords to defend or he might've died right there and then.

Shye broke out in a cold sweat as he slowly got up from the ground.

"Ahh…Shit…That was close…"

The male boar came charging out of nowhere while he was focused on looking for openings to attack the feasting female boar so he was caught off guard.

Shye didn't even have any room to recover as the male boar immediately charged at him again.

He was ready this time though so he managed to easily dodge the charge but the charging speed of the boar was a bit too fast so he didn't manage to land any hit after dodging.

"Tch!"

Shye clicked his tongue in annoyance.

One thing he learned from fighting boars was that one shouldn't ever attempt to stop a boar's charge using a head-on attack and he almost injured himself by attempting it before so he would never try such an unwise thing again.

Unfortunately for him, the difficulty of completing his quest went up again as the female blackwood boar noticed the ongoing battle, and now, two adult boars were simultaneously charging at him.

He didn't dare use the [Stoic Lv.1] skill this time to tank the attacks of the two adult boars because although the skill prevents him from getting knocked off his feet, it simply reduces the damage of the boars' charge by 50% and since there were two boars charging at him, there was a high chance that he would die on the spot if he attempted to tank it.

In addition to this, the boars had a tough constitution so he was sure that even his full-powered [Power Slash Lv.2] would only be enough to gravely wound a single boar but his strength wouldn't be enough to finish it off

However, boar-type creatures always had a weakness and it is their one-dimensional attack pattern.

All they do is continuously charge toward their opponent until they manage to kill their enemy, so after a few charges, Shye finally manages to get the perfect timing and inflicts a fairly deep wound on the boar's body.

*SQUEAL*

The male boar squealed in pain as both of Shye's greatswords slashed the left side of its body.

Shye saw this as a chance and quickly activated [Stoic Lv.1] to tank the female boar's charge.

He then used [Power Slash Lv.2] to slash at the forehead of the female boar who instantly died after Shye's greatswords broke through the defenses of its skull and destroyed its brain.

*BANG*

The body of the huge female blackwood boar toppled over as Shye was forced to use his [Dash Lv.1] skill to dodge the wounded male boar's furious charge.

After taking one boar down, Shye smiled confidently.

He knew that he could easily take on the remaining boar and sure enough, after another quarter of an hour, the male boar also succumbed to the damage accumulated by its body.

"Haaahh…Finally over…"

Shye breathed a sigh of relief after completing the quest assigned to him by the staff member.

He wanted to return to the academy today but it was almost nighttime and it would be dangerous for him to travel at night so Shye decided to spend the night in a safe spot instead of going back.

Although he was in a different safe spot this time, Shye made the same arrangements as yesterday and slept on the branches of a tall tree after checking if there were any poisonous creatures living there.

The night quickly passed and morning came.

This time, Shye decided to have a proper meal. He roasted a portion of the blackwood boar's meat and seasoned it with salt and pepper.

After a few minutes of diligently roasting the boar's meat, Shye was rewarded with a fragrant and mouthwatering aroma.

He suppressed the urge to drool and quickly grabbed a small piece of the roasted meat and put it into his mouth.

"MHM!"

Shye smiled in bliss as he enjoyed the succulent meat of the blackwood boar. He expected it to taste better than the hyena meat but he didn't expect it to be this good.

Fortunately, he decided to take a lot of meat for him and Maia to enjoy.

After a wonderful eating experience in the intermediate adventurer zone, Shye walked for around six and a half hours before arriving at the academy.

He then enthusiastically headed straight for the Permissions Pavilion to complete the quest and receive his intermediate adventurer badge.

Shye queued up and after fifteen minutes, it was finally his turn.

"Hello, I've returned to complete my quest."

The staff member immediately remembered his face and breathed a sigh of relief.

Yesterday, he was reprimanded by Dean Snowcrest after the dean found out that he let Shye, one of the six rising stars of the academy, go inside the intermediate adventurer zone.

Fortunately for him, Shye managed to return alive or he would've been fired from his position.

"O-Oh, so it's you, Sir Crowley! It's alright to fail, you still ha–?!"

He was so lost in his thoughts earlier that he didn't hear what Shye just said. However, when Shye took out the quest items one by one as proof of his success, the eyes of the staff member widened in disbelief.

"Y-Y-You succeeded?!" The staff member said with a shocked expression on his face.

"Yes, it was indeed a bit challenging but I managed to pull it off. So…Can I have my intermediate adventurer badge please?"

The staff member still couldn't process what just happened so he subconsciously gave Shye an intermediate adventurer badge.

"Thank you."

Shye happily left the Permissions Pavilion after receiving his intermediate adventurer badge leaving the staff member still dumbstruck about what happened.

A few seconds after Shye was gone, the staff member managed to gather his wits and panicked upon realizing what just happened.

"Oh no! I have to report this to Dean Snowcrest!"
