Adrian and Sara talked their hearts out in the time that remained. The room was still dark as ever, but thanks to their unique eyes, they could see each other and converse easily.
As they talked, it dawned on Adrian why the room was so dark. The Tulkas must have figured out Sara's secret of sparing certain people and wanted to hinder her ability to see, making her work for them without favouritism toward her friends.
But what they didn't realise was that a Lamia like Sara had eyes that could see in the dark, though just barely. It was enough for her to recognise faces when she looked closely. That's how she recognised Adrian, even though he had changed quite a bit.
But there was something strange. Sara kept bringing up someone named Sophia, and how she talked about her made Adrian feel like she thought he knew Sophia well and that they shared a close relationship.
