'Qi is also referred to as Internal Energy, so something that's within the body. I don't really get all the Dantian stuff, but I doubt it's important. Different books refer to things differently... I suppose the way you think about those things can make Qi easier or harder to use, just like Techniques being the Ravenous One-Eyed Tiger's Technique instead of another Sect's, despite those Techniques being basically the same. I more or less get the theory but...'
