Chapter 28 - Hidden Boss and The Secrets of a Dungeon

"Why can't I understand a thing here?" Chris slammed his fist against a wall.

Chris has chosen Runecrafting as his Subclass for a reason. He heard a rumour about the secret of a dungeon in his previous life. Back then, his subclass was Alchemy, which was very useful and profitable as long as he could make potions efficiently without many failures.

He wanted to check whether they were true or not. More than that, if he could learn the secret, then it would have become a source of steady income for him but it was useless for now. The dream couldn't be fulfilled.

"Anyway, this is only a Mid-boss room. Let's record these and see what I can find in the Boss room. Maybe I can find something there. Oh, I shouldn't forget about the hidden boss. Most dungeons have Hidden Bosses. I don't know whether this one has but I should look for it first before I go and fight the main one. Let's see if this dungeon has one", Chris thought and started to look for the hidden boss.

It was not always easy to find the hidden boss. This one is called Hidden Boss for a reason. It would be hidden from everyone who enters the dungeon. No one understood the reason behind the existence of a Hidden Boss.

The lower end of the hierarchy starts with Foot Soldiers, then proceeds to generals, then Mid-Boss and finally the Boss. The Hidden Boss has no place in this hierarchy but dungeons have something called Hidden Boss, Reason Unknown.

In fact, a dungeon has too many secrets that people love to unfurl but have no means to.

There are many theories about dungeons in the scholar community. Some say the dungeons are pathways to other worlds, while others say they are broken worlds that integrate with this world as dungeons. Whatever they were, every scholar was first fascinated by these renewable resource points and tried to find their secrets but even to this day, no one found their secrets.

Even in his past life, the secrets of the dungeon were revealed after the Abyssal Invasion occurred. He wanted to test the rumour about these secrets that he had heard about. If they were true, he could make a lot of money but he couldn't find them.

How can he?

Many Rune Masters studied the runes in the dungeons for decades but were unable to decode them. How can he do such a thing at a single glance when his knowledge of runes is abysmal?

"Damn it! I found the Hidden Boss but the hidden boss looks like a mutated one. It would be troublesome to deal with it".

A mutated monster would be different from its natural counterpart. They would have one or two increased attributes or would possess special skills. They would be truly troublesome to get rid of but the rewards for killing them are quite high and many guilds would actively seek to fight them, sometimes even causing fights among various guilds to determine who would fight it.

Unlike normal monsters which refresh after a certain time, special monsters like mutated ones don't. Sure a new monster would appear after a time but it was not guaranteed that it would be a mutated one. Most likely it would be a normal monster.

Finding a mutated monster depends on luck.

"A level 27 mutated fire salamander queen. F...damn it. It doesn't matter. Though our elementals are opposite and clash with each other, with my OP skills and high-level attributes, I can easily kill it".

...

[You have successfully killed Hidden Boss, Mutated Fire Salamander Queen, Level 27]

[You have gained EXP...]

[You have levelled up]

[You have reached level 25.]

[You have gained +5 INT and +30 FAPs]

[You have gained Mutated Fire Salamander Queen's Heart.]

[You have obtained the skill book, Fire Field.]

"Wow, nice. I not only reached level 25 but also got two very important items. A skill book and the queen's heart, which could be sold for a lot of gold, especially as fire-related spells/skills are so rare in this kingdom. these two would be worth a lot of gold but I would rather learn the skill. Though I can copy other's skills through Reverse Analysis, it has a huge CD, and also the analysing time seems to be a lot more than I thought.

I would rather use it when I see something rare. This fire skill might be rare here but in other nations, one can find a moderate supply, to say the least. So it would be a waste to sell it and not use it".

[Fire Field: Turn around the caster into a field of fire.]

The description may sound a little vague but Chris already knows what the advantage of it is. Like a Ice Field, Fire Filed would give a buff to fire spells. Especially now that he has [Fire Swap] which can only be used properly in a field of fire.

"Now that it's done, let's see what the runes in this room has to say".
