Serena paced behind her desk like a caged panther, emeralds blazing when Vixen entered. She whirled on her protégé, ferocity sparking in the air. "You defied a simple fucking order! What were you doing out there, letting your cunt make decisions?" Papers fluttered from her lashing hand.
Vixen met the fiery glare, refusing to flinch. "He burned me first! That bastard tried icing me to cover his rat tracks."
Serena's jaw clenched mulishly. "So what?"
"So what?" Vixen echoed, shoulders tensing. "I could've put him down! Instead I showed weakness, let him slither off 'cause of this ache in my chest!" She ground her teeth, hating the admission.
"You went to see a lover?" Serena's fist slammed the desktop, rattling it.
Vixen simply nodded like a kid being scolded.
"Precisely why we warned against dipping your wick with men. This sentimental shit will get you clipped quicker than a bad plastique burn."
