Dick raced to the scene, his eyes immediately drawn to the tragic sight of the small goblin he had so meticulously nurtured. The creature lay lifeless, its throat pierced by the blade of a dark elf. Under the eerie glow of the moon, Dick's eyes blazed with a fierce, angry scarlet.
"I..." Tina faltered, momentarily stunned by the malice in Dick's gaze. She had intended to explain it was an act of self-defense, a reflex when the goblin child ambushed her from the shadows. However, the cold fury in Dick's eyes left her speechless.
A realization dawned on Tina. "Could he be the son I bore?" She recognized him as the Goblin Shaman from the cave, the child born from her ordeal. Her heart sank. She had come with hopes of a warm reunion, but now he looked upon her as an enemy.
