Alex had speculation from the Patriarch's point of view; he didn't have much time to wait until MingYue could protect the family.
After all, based on all the stories he had heard so far, the Patriarch was a selfish person. He didn't want to sacrifice his life for future generations, but Alex knew that's not what MingYue was asking for, even though she said it like that.
