Ranking System

First I will start with the drifter ranking system.

Drifters have what is called soul core, a source and center of their powers, this core can increase in ranks and the higher it goes, the stronger, their soul and body body become.

Also, new soul rank guarantees new talent ability being unlocked – more deadly and powerful, in cases that the talent class is low, and the limit for talent ability has been reached, the talent ability becomes more potent and there's a higher percentage of using their true talent (that is not a branched out ability but the talent main itself, more will be said as the story goes on)

This is the soul ranking system:

β–  Walker: at this rank the drifter is only half awakened and their soul essence is still unrefined.

β–  Drifter: they become fully awakened.

β–  Nomad.

β–  Vagrant: at this rank the drifter earns the title 'Master' they become much more potent with their abilities and gain restructured body

β–  Maverick: at this rank they gain the title 'Savant'

β–  Transient: at this rank they gain the title 'Sage' and are so strong that they could peer into the unique nature of their talent (I want to avoid revealing anything here cause the story has not gone that far)

β–  Ephemeral: at this rank, rumors say, they begin to break the limitations of humanity. This stage is unlocked after Drifters have travelled to the heart of the mystic, primordial wellspring, where they must delve into the very essence of their soul core and unlock its deepest, most potent potential. They gain the title 'Ascendant'

β–  Evanescent: at this rank, they gain the title 'Grandmasters' and practically wield powers that could decimate nations in mere minutes. At this rank Drifters are embodiments that channel the primal energies that suffuse the very fabric of reality. They gain the title 'Paragon'

β–  Radiant: not much is known but they gain the title 'Luminary'

β–  Celestial: they gain the title 'Transcendant'

β–  Genesis: they gain the title 'Zenith'

Then we have ranking system for items, attributes and talents.

I will start with items.

Items are spoils received when monsters are slain, it can come as a weapon type, a charm type or an armor type. The ranks are:

● Normal

● Superior

● Enchanted

● Arcane

● Lordly

● Heroic

● Legendary

● Ancient

● Divine

● Eternal

Then all items have what is called 'Order' (ranging from I – VI). Order represents the number of abilities that an item is woven with. This usually is not dependent on the rank of the item, it's possible to see a 'normal' item with order vi or an 'abysmal' item with just order i.

Attributes.

β–ͺ︎ Ordinary

β–ͺ︎ Unique

β–ͺ︎ Mystic

β–ͺ︎ Divine

β–ͺ︎ Abyssal

β–ͺ︎ Fated

While humans do not place much importance on attribute, the higher the rank, the stronger the effect it has on a drifter, being able to function outside the sphere of the talent influence.

For example, if a drifter has a ordinary rank attribute that allows him to resist cold, he would not be able to shake off the cold completely, that is one, two, if the drifter's talent flaw exposes them to frostbite, the attribute will be totally useless against it.

So, the drifter would still experience frostbite.

But let's say, a drifter's attribute is fated rank, with same ability, the drifter would be able to resist the frostbite because his/her attribute is working outside the influence of their talent ability, more about this will be revealed in the story, don't get confused.

NOTE: Talents have a flaw but it only happens when the drifter overtask their talent, it like a fatigue but causes there to be drawback and limitations in the things they can do for a certain duration. In some cases, it's worse…

Talent function with Class ranking system.

β˜† F

β˜† E

β˜† D

β˜† C

β˜† B

β˜† A

β˜† S

β˜† SS

β˜† SSS

β˜† EX

All talents except SSS and EX awaken at the drifter rank with just one abilities. The SSS class and EX class have an headstart of two and three respectively.

There's a limit to which more abilities can be unlocked as the drifters advance in soul rank. Note that it is impossible for talents class to grow, of course, the talents become more potent as the drifter advances in soul rank but its more like they are coming to realize its true mastery.

That potency has always been there, their soul rank has just not been able to handle it. So, when drfiters move to the next soul rank, their soul is stronger and can handle more.

Next is the monster soul ranking and danger level.

Monster Soul Ranking:

β—‹ Fiend: one soul core

β—‹ Savage: Two soul cores

β—‹ Beast: three soul cores

β—‹ Hellion: four soul cores.

β—‹ Maelstrom: five soul cores.

β—‹ Destroyer: six soul cores.

β—‹ Behemoth: seven soul cores.

β—‹ Belial: eight soul cores.

β—‹ Leviathan: nine soul cores.

β—‹ Titan: ten soul cores.

β—‹ Infernal: eleven soul cores.

Of course, soul cores are not the only determinant of a monster's might, there is also classification based on their danger level.

β–‘ Hazard

β–‘ Disaster

β–‘ Calamity

β–‘ Catastrophe

β–‘ Devil

β–‘ Abysmal

β–‘ Apex

"Hazard" represented a relatively minor monster that poses limited danger. While "disaster" is a more dangerous monster but still natural to the habitat.

"Calamity" connotes a monster that brings grave misfortune, often terrorizing entire villages. "Catastrophe" and "devil" suggest unimaginably destructive monsters capable of massive ruin.

"Abysmal" indicates a creature so horrifically evil its mere presence induces despair. And "apex" signifies the ultimate monster - the peak predator against which no other can stand.

Unlike humans, monsters cannot advance in soul ranks. They have a fixated soul rank, instead when they evolve, they evolve to a new danger level.

So, it is very possible to see a fiend rank of apex danger level.

Next is Rifts tier and the monster ranks that exist in there.

Tier I rifts – fiends, savage

Teir II – fiends, savages, beast

Tier III – savages, beasts, hellion

Tier IV – savages, beasts, hellions, maelstrom

Tier V – beasts, hellions, maelstrom, destroyer

Tier VI – beasts, hellions, maelstroms, destroyers, behemoth

Tier VII – hellions, maelstroms, destroyers, behemoths, belial

Tier VIII – maelstroms, destroyers, behemoths, belials, leviathan

Tier IX – destroyers, behemoths, belials, leviathans, titan

Tier X – behemoths, belials, leviathans, titans, infernal

Even though the rank is constant, danger level is not. Any factor could contribute to the rift and cause some certain monsters to evolve to a new danger level.

Unless this evolution affects the soul core of the rifts, it is impossible for the rifts to evolve too.

● The Talent Fragment System; how it works.

Fiend rank - 1 talent fragment

Savage rank - 2 talent fragments

Beast rank - 3 talent fragments

Hellion rank - 4 talent fragments

Maelstrom rank - 5 talent fragments

Destroyer rank - 6 talent fragments

Behemoth rank - 7 talent fragments

Belial rank - 8 talent fragments

Leviathan rank - 9 talent fragments

Titan rank - 10 talent fragments

Infernal rank - 11 talent fragments.

Now this is the basics but what changes this basic amount of talent fragment gained is the danger level of a monster.

Because at certain danger levels, some monster have a robust soul core than others.

Hazard and Disaster danger level, the talent fragment is multiplied by 1, so they are pretty much the same as long as the monster is at that danger level.

Calamity and Catastrophe danger level, the talent fragment is multiplied by 2.

Devil and Abysmal danger level, the talent fragment is multiplied by 3.

Apex danger level, the talent fragment is multiplied by 4.

So if MC slays a monster of fiend rank but apex danger level, he will gain four talent fragments.

If he slays a monster of hellion rank but disaster danger level, he will gain four talent fragments.

This ranking exist to put a distinct differences between monsters and also a chance for growth and variabilities.

Thank you.

Note: A couple of things in the Drifter's rankings were just changed so you might see them as something else in the chapters until they are edited out, e.g: Grandmasters, Grandsavant...
